What a historic place! Did I read that right? They have been trimming those trees for years? And this was used for the grounds of the world fair? I'm glad the bandshell is still used for music, even if it's a few generations later.

This is an interesting spot right in between several attractions - Japanese Tea Garden, de Young Museum, Academy of Science, Rose Garden Botanical Garden etc. You never know what you’ll find. There are often folks doing tai chi early mornings or folks selling art on the weekends. They also have free concerts during the summers.
There are food trucks on the weekends. Oh, public restrooms too! If you’re lucky, you may even see a fairy door at the base of a tree.

I love the music concourse not just for the gathering space that it is, but also as a fun architectural backdrop for family photos. I am a photographer here in the Bay Area and I often meet families at the DeYoung or the main fountain, then we walk through the bandshell while transitioning to other locations. I always stop for a few photos.

Got the chance to play a show here with my band, Pirate Radio. @pirateradiosf. Incredible! The stage is great with a new lighting system that looks amazing. The Meyer Sound system is incredible with every instrument so well articulated. Go catch a show here for free! Look for the Illuminate series which is being booked by someone who has been involved in music in San Francisco for decades.

great to view and live music, sometimes they exhibit few arts galleries in there and the whole GG state park is amazing... easily spend full day there... very good for walkers. don't waste your time in searching for free parking, there are paid parking too, else have to wait...

A space to take in after you finish the museums. They have art work around the fountains for sale as well as music playing. A quick lunch or just some time on the benches are a great way to enjoy the space.
