Such a cool location! Covers the history of the migration west, but specifically how Folsom ties into that story. There is a train car, pioneer house, and blacksmithing yard open for the public to explore. For families, it can get a bit hot in the summer, so bring shade for little ones.

Cute little outdoor exhibit. It was nice to walk around and the historical collection is impressive. On top of that, a blacksmith shop right in Folsom is pretty neat! The only reason I didn’t rate higher is because most of the staff didn’t wear their masks. The guide sitting in front of the blacksmith shop was chatting with a masked family about 4 feet away and didn’t wear a mask. Two other guides were chatting with each other, one with a mask on their chin and one missing one entirely. The latter approached to say hi to my dog and still had no mask on.

Really cool place to be thrown back in time. They do group tours for schools so it can get a little busy but the staff was helpful and made it a fun experience with the family.
My favorite part was the working blacksmith shop that they have inside the village, very neat to see and learn about!
