Empire Works is, without a doubt, the worst company I’ve ever had the displeasure of dealing with. From their unprofessional and downright disturbing crew to their shoddy workmanship, it’s baffling that this company is still in business.

My HOA in Ladera Ranch unfortunately hired this company to paint the wood trim, front door, garage door, and wood siding of our entire complex. What should have been a straightforward project turned into a nightmare, with one issue after another from start to finish.

First, the crew has been nothing but malicious, rude, and outright nasty to the residents here. They act as though they own the area, parking their trucks wherever they please—including fire lanes, in front of people’s garages, and in assigned parking spots—leaving residents unable to access their own homes. I personally dealt with the “site manager” parking his truck in front of my spot and blocking my car for weeks. Despite asking him multiple times to stop, he refused, cussed me out, and even became aggressive. It wasn’t until I called their corporate office that the issue was addressed. Beyond this, the crew routinely takes up all guest parking spots and blocks fire lanes, endangering the community by obstructing fire hydrants—an especially reckless move given the frequent fires in the area.

Their disregard for the community extends beyond parking. They regularly block entire roadways, preventing residents from accessing their homes and halting essential services like trash collection. When asked to move their unnecessary blockades, they either ignore the request or turn away. Just recently, we had to call the trash service back twice because the crew refused to clear the road.

Their unprofessional behavior doesn’t stop there. The crew litters the area with personal and equipment trash and lounges around in the middle of walkways during their breaks. It’s disrespectful, unsightly, and incredibly unprofessional.

As if the crew’s behavior wasn’t bad enough, the quality of their work is absolutely abysmal. After they “finished” my unit, I inspected it only to find numerous issues. They got white paint everywhere—on my newly painted deck, my entry porch, and the cement leading into the garage—likely because they didn’t bother to tape anything. They painted my front door the wrong color, damaged my door mat, and even broke my son’s screen door.

I’ve attached photo evidence of their poor workmanship and lack of care. If you’re considering hiring Empire Works, do yourself a favor and stay FAR away. If they’re offering you a “deal,” it’s probably because they’re desperate for work and know their organization is completely subpar. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere.

We’ve been working with EmpireWorks on a large-scale wood replacement and painting project for the entire exterior of our community's buildings, and I cannot say enough great things about them. From day one, they have been incredibly professional and communicative. Calvin Mead has been exceptional in keeping our Board informed every step of the way, detailing every component replacement in the scope of work. Whenever there’s a change order or a new discovery, we’re made aware immediately.

One of the standout aspects of working with EmpireWorks are the site walks that Calvin and the site manager, Charlie Sancha, conduct with our Board. This level of commitment has been invaluable, especially since this extensive project has been ongoing. They take the time to answer all our questions and ensure the work is completed to the highest standard.

We before we met with EmpireWorks, we briefly worked with another contractor for the original scope of work, but it's clear a lot was missed in that original scope. EmpireWorks has been so much more thorough. They’ve uncovered damage that was missed and made sure everything is identified and addressed. We’re so fortunate to have chosen EmpireWorks for this project, and I highly recommend them for any major contracting work. They are a pleasure to work with and bring exceptional attention to detail.

This company has done what they said they would. Total wood restoration then full painting of building (25).
Team of Wood Workers was thorough and efficient. Following what was found by pre workers in what wood needed to be replaced. When they did find a hidden issue, they contacted correct people to make adjustment.
Painters came in behind wood workers and did a great job.
Much of the wood and paint work was done in extreme heat.
No problem.
All Empire Employees are friendly, efficient and hard workers!

Our Association hired EmpireWorks to do reconstruction on our 30 year old HOA complex. Our siding needed major repair and painting. Their work ethic and quality is exceptional! They meet with us every two weeks or so to review the work that has been completed. They maintain a workforce of 6-10 workers each day and they do an exceptional job of cleaning up at the end of each day. Any items that need extra attention are handled quickly. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY FOR ANY/ALL YOUR RECONSTRUCTION NEEDS AND/OR PAINTING!
