Local Arkansas area history is thankfully preserved at this museum in downtown Little Rock that contains many exhibits of life of yesteryear from the settlers to the natives to the art of the region. The museum covers a city block with outdoor and indoor exhibits. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the exhibits should be interest children without having to resort to high-tech multimedia techniques. A trolley goes right in front of the museum. This museum is part of a cluster of historical buildings in downtown Little Rock and the Old State House is a short walk as is the park alongside the Arkansas River.
Try to donate if you can as the museum is free and should be preserved for future visitors.

The museum was doing some changes on some their exhibits but, what was fully up and running were very nice. The gift shop had nice things to choose from and the gentleman running it was very knowledgeable about the merchandise and the artists that created them. Our favorite part was the outdoor guided tour. The guide was extremely informed on what he was presenting. And very friendly, he even answered all my 101 questions! ?

Knife room is awesome and the exhibit on the Native Americans of the region is amazing. Free galleries and a tour that is worth the small cost. For the outside houses.

This museum is a great place to bring your family to learn a little history of Arkansas. It carries a wide variety of antiques and treasures throughout Arkansas past. You can do a self guided tour or get a tour guided by the employees every hour on the hour. The entire staff was extremely helpful and knowledgable. I highly recommend stopping by and checking this great museum out.

Such an awesome place. You can do your own tour which is free or you can pay for a tour which is pretty cheap but make sure you're there on the hour cuz they do tours every hour on the hour I got there like 5 minutes after 3:00 and missed it so it was okay I just walked around it was nice. And certain days you would have to ask they have people dress up in the old timey clothes and have those old houses open talking about the history. They have an Indian museum a little place for children to play and a few other cool museums in there to look at old things from the 1800s it all has to do with arkansas's history though.

New to Arkansas and visited on a field trip. The entire time we spent was worth so much more than we paid. The staff, who are dressed to match their timeframe and stories was my favorite part! Great for all ages. Very informative and tons of fun. We will be going back!
