You will get robbed, bipped, burgled if you park in downtown Oakland. Learned the hard way and either walk to the convention center from BART or don’t leave anything in your car.

(Fun fact I found the guy selling my stuff a mile away from downtown Oakland but police did nothing. No wonder they’re so brazen with the weak laws here.)

Came out of town to a conference. It’s conveniently located on 10th, a mere block or two from the 12st Station BART.

The actual conference center is alright but it’s not huge. The rooms were crowded and the workshops suffered because of this.

DevWeek had a hiring mixer in the big expo room and (DevWeek) brought in some nice stadium flood lights. That was good.

Too bad beers were $8, because it’s really just Marriott spiking these prices. There’s also a nice restaurant up stairs for casual food

It's a convention center with a plenty of rooms large and small. A comfortable auditorium. Really easy access to Bart so you don't ever have to park. Nice places to eat lunch locally if the catering doesn't work for you. Hotel for travelers is good too.

The ground floor at the back (enter on the right side from the street) is a good space for events/functions but somewhat pricey to rent the space. Parking is good in garages nearby if you want to pay for it but on the surrounding streets you must pay the meter so depending on how long your event last you can make that decision. BART is nearby in walking distance. Funny the Warriors practice facility (a full court ++++) is directly above this space but of course you are not allowed to go up there and cannot see it from the street.

The decor is out of the 70s...but it's a convention center, so they don't go long on sparkle. We were there on a day when the Marriott workers were on strike - but I don't know how to guard against that. Good location, great food just a couple blocks away.

I would rate this place higher - but the parking is a mess and the loading dock is tiny.

If you have a booth here, you will spend a good part of the day waiting for a spot to open at the dock or a spot to open in the tiny public parking areas.

If you are staying at the hotel for a show here - parking is expensive and distant if you are driving a larger vehicle. Onsite parking is available for smaller vehicles.

The center itself is attached to a nice hotel and easy to get to for the locals.

Parking is a minus minus. I don't understand their parking lot structure and had to use a garage a block away. I circled twice and the lot was filled and there was no room. The interior of the center did not age well. It also shares it's location with the Marriott which confused me. It is the center of a hotel or is it a standalone convention center like the ones many other cities had in the Bay Area. Don't plan on getting cell phone reception if your convention will have thousands of people. No reception on Verizon when I was here with a few thousand other people at the same time.
