In spite of it's size, I find this venue very easy to navigate. Also it's proximity to Marriot Marquis to be fantastic. It's nice to walk outside for a moment between the hotel and convention center for a nice break. A lot of great convention centers around the world. This is among the best in my personal experience. Hard to complain about the view, too.

HUGE VENUE w/ WONDERFUL ARCHITECTURE! The San Diego Convention Center is made for large cons and massive events. It's an iconic San Diego staple and it's literally world-renowned for it's yearly hosting of Comic Con International. It's currently my favorite con venue in California as it's so clean, spacious, and has wonderful ocean views. It's such an incredible experience getting to view Coronado and the embarcadero harbor when I step out or look through a window!

The convention center has amazing halls, rooms, and ballrooms. My personal favorites are the elegant Ballroom 20 and massive Sails Pavilion. Ballroom 20 holds large cosplay events and masquerade competitions while being able to sit hundreds and hundreds of fans! The Sails Pavilion is a central hub where booths, tables, and large crowds bustle. I love the sail structures, they're so unique and pretty, this place has a lot of character!

SDCC also has smaller rooms in the upper levels for more intimate panels and meetings. Of course, many favor the larger rooms like the formidable Hall H, but it's not my personal preference. Hall H is cool and famous for a reason for hosting Marvel, Amazon, DC and other studios, however it's the only hall in the entire convention center that has obstructed viewing. For instance, there's these pillars that stick out in the middle of the audience floor that make it hard to see for some and completely block one's line of vision. Other than Hall H, every other space is perfect!

The convention center has many entrances and exits! Lots of options depending on the event you're here for. Overall, this venue is quite accessible with several ramps and escalators for disabled attendees. Escalators and stairs are also scattered throughout the venue. I recommend taking the stairs to avoid crowd congestion.

Convention food is okay, not the best but definitely serviceable! Also, there's Starbucks inside now, yes a LEGIT Starbucks! My coffee lovers will truly appreciate it. There's plenty of eateries in the surrounding area and hotels if you're here for a multi-day convention. Parking is kinda pricey it can range anywhere from $30-$60 around here. Public transportation is nearby aka the metro and/or bus stops!

Autodesk University 2024. I appreciated the ease of access to the individual presentation rooms and all the comfortable spots to step aside to catch up on work or what's happening with the family. The view from the back deck is just fantastic. The employees were kind and helpful. Plus, they have Starbucks!

Last time, I attended a conference at the San Diego Convention Center in the Marina district near hotels, which was a fantastic experience. The convention center has a spacious interior that can accommodate large conferences, just like the one we had. The building has three levels: ground, mezzanine, and upper levels. The exhibit halls are on the ground level, while the meeting rooms are on the mezzanine and upper levels. During our event, the convention team did a fantastic job providing the best assistance possible. I was impressed with the cleanliness and maintenance of the place. The service provided by the convention center staff was top-notch. Overall, it was an excellent experience.

Had a great experience visiting the Convention Center for ALA Annual 2024. I expected a lot of walking and it IS a very big building, but it actually wasn't as much walking as I expected. You will definitely get your steps in, but I think it speaks to how unwalkable US cities are that people think this is considered a lot. I think people from other countries with more walkable cities will find that traversing this building is an everyday experience in terms of steps.

+ The views of the surrounding area are stunning!
