Lots of interesting things to see: from plane and submarine models, medals, uniforms, historic newspapers and documents to the full cockpit of a P3 sub hunter and an F18 outside.

You need a docent to take you to the outdoor planes. Our guide was a former P3 pilot and gave us lots of interesting details on the controls and gauges in the actual cockpit.

Having lived in the flight path of the P3’s that flew regularly in the 80’s it was especially interesting to get “up close and personal” with one of these planes

Small museum. Some planes outside and actual cockpit of P3 Orion you can sit in. Docents are ex military and full of knowledge. We were lucky to have our own docent on a quiet day and spent an hour learning things you can’t get by walking around. Afterwards go walk to the Space Bar for a beer and food. Or 5 minute drive to the golf club for a beer and food

I met the men running the museum. Quite the honor, though the gate personnel need to direct you to the correct location. Be sure to ask for the Moffett Air museum because NASA has a museum there as well. It is filled with history, memorabilia, uniforms, photos, aircraft info and squadron info. Worth the visit even if you were never stationed there!!!👍🇺🇸

Moffett Air Force Base was educational. Who knew there was that much history, history of aviation, the war, American perseverance and women's contributions during the war right there in Mountain View California.. There were live tour guides to inform you of the historical events, actual equipment from the war (planes, radios, munitions, etc.).

It's also child friendly

What an experience. You go through the gate and have to show drivers license to be allowed to enter. Then you go To the museum and park. They have staff there, that gives you a tour with a lot of details about the planes as well as the Moffett airfield and the hangar. Really Cool!

Fun way of getting up close with Hangar 1 and a wonderful collection of aviation history from dirigibles to the U2 and a blue angels F/A-18. Warm welcome from the volunteers.

Located inside the NASA area of Moffitt Field, the museum offers a great collection of artifacts and the history of the facility.

The museum is larger than it appears as it covers 3 wings of an old hanger along with the outside air park with a few planes.

Mike, our docent, was awesome and was great with the kids. He even opened up the P3 cockpit for the kids to sit in and be pilots for a second.

This museum is unique as it has a lot of the history of the airships that the airfield used to support. The large hanger it is near the museum, once housed a massive airship called the makron. There is one other such building on the west coast all the way up in Oregon.
