You might not expect much from the exterior facade of the Alaska Jewish Museum. Or even from the interior, as you step into the small room that houses the rotating exhibits. But once you start exploring the displays, you'll find yourself deeply engrossed in the expertly curated stories being told there. Some which you won't find anywhere else in the world, let alone the internet!
Whether you're interested in learning more about the early and current Jewish population, or Alaska's planned role in WW2 relocation, this museum will have something for you to explore the next time you visit Anchorage.

We should have arrived earlier. This museum is mostly visual with lots of reading. The curator loves to share the information included and how she researched each exhibit displayed.

The Alaska Jewish Museum is such a cool little place to learn about the Jewish community in Alaska and a little bit about the Jewish community worldwide. While the museum has mostly text and just a few artifacts, the staff member is so helpful and holds a wealth of knowledge. I would not recommend it for young kids though, as it is oriented to adults.

I really liked this place because they have so much information on the Jewish community in Alaska, and history to go with it. Even though the building is small it's loads of history and information inside. I'd recommend this place to anyone not matter believe or religion. If nothing else it's Alaskan history. Plus the caretaker of the place is really sweet and friendly. Definitely go here!!!

Do not let the diminutive size of the building dissuade you from discovering this hidden gem! Leslie, the museum's wonderfully-engaging curator, has assembled a collection of exquisitely-produced exhibits that will illuminate relationships between Alaska, Jews, and Israel that you would have never dreamed existed! Not to be missed!
