Had an AWESOME 3 days charter fishing with Captain Joel, owner of Alaska Wide Open Charters, in Craig, Alaska. This year i was looking to fish in a little more remote area of SE Alaska. I decided to go to Craig, Alaska - it fit the bill. Found Alaska Wide Open Charters when looking at Fishing Charters in Craig. I am so happy I decided to go with Captain Joel. Its been a great experience from beginning to end. Captain Joel is so awesome to fish with! He is very Knowledgeable-( been guiding/ fishing those waters for over 16 years) Professional, Easy Going & what's most impressive is that he is so genuinely excited to go fishing and find the best fishing areas each day! We caught all large King Salmon, lots of Halibut, couple of good size Yellow Eye and many Black Rockfish. He fillets all the fish, Vacuum packs, freezes and boxes it up for you also. Would Highly recommend giving Captain Joel a call if you want to have a Great Time, Fun and catch lots of Fish!!!

Fishing with Joel is an awesome experience and in my opinion could easily be rated with more than 5 stars. I have lost count in how many times I have fished with him and I have certainly enjoyed seeing him develop his fishing skills over the past 10 years. Even though I am a fisheries biologist, I often find myself envying his level of knowledge for marine water fishing in our area, and I have learned many things regarding salmon fishing from him. Besides his expertise in fishing, Joel is a very personable guy, has a great level of devotion in everything he does and is one you can easily trust your personal safety with . I strongly recommend Joel if you are looking for greatness in fishing around Craig.

We were exceptionally happy with our 3 days of fishing with Captain Joel! We caught so many fish plus had a wonderful trip overall. Joel takes care of everything--providing very comfortable accommodations (including a kitchen stocked with breakfast foods and snacks), a vehicle for our use driving around town to restaurants he recommends, rain gear and boots, processing and packaging of the frozen fish into boxes accepted by our airline, and homemade lunches and snacks on the boat. Amazing service from an enjoyable and skilled captain! 🙂

Had an incredible time here. Joel was very knowledgeable and very accommodating. He knew all the best spots and we were pulling fish out if the water. Everyone on the boat got their quota. It was an absolute blast and I look forward to doing it again.
