Wish I'd known it wasn't open to the public when I Ubered out here. Granted, as someone who's worked in museums before, I understand the purpose of collections (namely preserving specimens/artifacts for posterity), the procedures for accessing those collections for research, and how little of a collection is ever put out on public display. But based on the photos posted of large fossil mounts, I assumed there was more open to the public. Beyond T-rex and Pteranodon mounts, there's little to differentiate it from your average university biology department. And the fact there are so many positive reviews that make no mention of this led me to wasting my morning.

On another note, notice what's present AND OMITTED from this timeline of human history in the hominid display. Religious sentiments aside, that is beyond petty.

Nice displays including a full size Trex, as well as some hallway displays. Not a public museum, can't go into that area

I've been here three times during school, seeing the T-Rex Sculpture (I don't believe it's the real one at least), is always a breathtaking experience.

Berkeley Natural History Museum houses a Trex fossil - copy - original is on underground beneath the tower. Need student badhe access to visit the original Trex fossil. Triceratops also on display. Again not the original.
