While it does need a little more care and attention, the garden overall is a delight to visit and the roses are well tended to. Other parts of the garden need some attention, but for the Grand entry price of $0 it's a great place to visit.

They have plenty of classic varieties as well as common and uncommon hybrid rose varieties.

Lots of steps, so not very accessible.

Great views of the bay from the top of the garden.

A beautiful rose garden located in Berkeley with a. Park right across the road. The garden is beautiful and plenty big with tons and tons of different varieties of roses. I like that the garden has markers to tell you what each rose is. It’s so peaceful and beautiful here it’s a great place to come to unwind and get some fresh “scented” air.

We went in the off season, so it was probably underwhelming, but it was still a great little diversion and we did get to see some beautiful flowers. We'll be back when things are in bloom.

As of 05/2024: Disabled Person Accessibility of the Berkeley Rose Garden:
-At least one Disabled Person Parking spot on the street in front of the garden.
-There is a designated Disabled Person no-steps-required paved pathway route to enter the garden and then once in the garden you may walk past the roses centrally and then arrive at the large arbor/pergola area with many benches to sit at. Note: to start this alternative, accessible route is a long walk taking you into the park with the playground and open space, through the tunnel under the street, past the bathrooms and then into the garden.
-The main pathways within the garden are smooth and paved or they're a little uneven, laid with stones.
-yes, there are many steps within the garden in general, but also a great many benches and in several locations. The majority of the garden was easier to navigate and less steep than expected when looking at photos.
-Bathroom facilities are a 1-2 min walk from entrance of garden.

I would love to come back to the garden and enjoy the beauty and peacefulness again.

Pretty nice. Gets busy with people and their children even on weekdays since it's also next to a park. Pretty roses but I wish a lot of them had a lot more fragrance because most lacked fragrance. There are some parts that need maintenance so people can walk more easily but there's plenty of pathways to walk around. You'll get to see lots of bees most likely. I would ago around later spring after the cold but before the summer heat starts. Though, the flowers would probably be more fragrant on hotter days. We also got to visit Oklahoma

Once of the most majestic rose gardens one can visit! The terraced rows of hundreds of rose varieties are well manicured, and fascinating to see in full bloom. The horticulturalists here really know what they are doing. If you ever find yourself there, make sure to take a stroll around, sniff a few flowers, and take it all in from a bench. From the top of the road, there is a beautiful view of the Bay too!

The Rose Garden in Berkeley is one of the gems of the Bay Area and a mandatory stop during any tourist visit to Berkeley. It's also very popular with locals due to the adjacent Codornices Park, which contains playgrounds, picnic areas, and hiking paths.

There are hundreds of varieties of roses maintained in terraced rows. The roses are maintained throughout the year by horticulturists, but are best during the spring (late April to early June). The garden smells amazing when the roses are in bloom.

There are several tennis courts within the Rose Garden complex, and you can take the pedestrian tunnel under Euclid Ave to get into Codornices Park. The garden also has amazing views of Berkeley, San Francisco, and the Golden Gate Bridge.
