Played there for my birthday 4/12/25. What a ridiculously hard course! Layout was very challenging and it was hard to see where things went for a first timer. Super fun experience, but it was not in the best shape or even in good shape. It was $100 to play and I’d have to say it wasn’t worth it at this time. Would love to see it at its best.

Full price for what you could call winter conditions at best (had to move off multiple tee boxes, avoid sandy fairway areas, and move balls away from green issues). I was part of a group of 2 solos forced to ride in the same cart after requesting not to. This was the first tee time of the day without a full tee sheet for the day. Returned from 18 and there are no less than 20 carts still available. The lady running the place doesn’t seem to be too welcoming. Better courses in the area to give your money to IMO. Great setting and course layout. If there was more realistic view of their course and welcoming staff it would be a 5 star even with below standard conditions.

Very challenging and exciting course plotted through some bands of sandstone. Radical hills, extreme greens, beautiful layout. I had a blast in march with winter conditions. I look forward to returning when the irrigation is on for the season. Highest recommendation

This is a very interesting course to say the least. We played on a sunny day in mid March. The front nine was very nice with no wind and made the course very playable. Right at the time we made the turn. The winds kicked up to being 20 to 30 miles an hour and things changed big time to say the least. I’m assuming it is windy all the time at this course because of how exposed it is. This is a warning of sorts if you do not like playing in wind, this course may not be for you as it becomes incredibly challenging and borderline unfair. I actually hit the ball incredibly well that day and still struggled to post around that even remotely reflected how well I played. I’ve read a bunch of negative reviews on here about the staff, but I found everybody there to be very nice, especially the starter. My biggest complaint about this course is that the design of the greens is simply out of whack, especially given the climate of the location. It was very dry in March to say the lease and I’m assuming it’s always that way. The greens are not getting watered and there is so much ululation and thus There are areas of the greens that are completely dead. I think it would’ve been much smarter to design the greens to be much flatter so this did not happen. I’m sure the greens are much different story in the summer when the irrigation is turned on, but the fact that this is in such a dry/cold climate Means that that isn’t the case for much of the year. I did give it five stars because I had a really great time and it is definitely a fun and interesting course.

If you're in the Santa Fe area this is a don't miss place. Scenic vistas everywhere and course was in perfect shape. Greens have huge slopes in them and are severe. Playing this place is an adventure with all the elevation changes and uphill and downhill shots. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Green fee on a Saturday was $99. Less than half of Paako Ridge and $30 less than Twin Warriors. Be aware they don't take American Express cards. I'd choose this place if I was only playing once in the area..

Really nice course, in great condition. As I'm learning seems traditional for New Mexico courses, this course has gravel/dirt paths for both golf carts and walkers. I didn't see any walkers today but seems like it is walked by some golfers. The track is very hilly and thank goodness for powerful golf carts! Lou was today's starter--nice guy, really helpful to show me around, give me a couple pointers on #1 and #2. Hope to be back!

Absolutely loved this course! Greens wwre in great condition and fast. The staff was friendly. This was our second course in NM making our way to Colorado for 7 more courses we were playing for our annual summer golf trip.. Black Mesa was definitely worth the stop and easily comparable to the more expensive courses we have played. Loved the long greens.

Beautiful golf course. We played Saturday Oct 16th, 2022. First group off as a twosome. We were expecting to be paired as they were pretty upfront on their website about pairing people to make foursomes. (Not an issue for us) We felt like the course was ours and that was awesome. The course was in perfect condition. You couldn't ask for a more perfect day pertaining to the weather. I want to give a shout out to Joseph for being so personable and taking the time to make sure we had everything we needed. Great dude. The value you get at their price point. 89$ for this beautiful course on a weekend morning is spectacular. Black Mesa is on par with Paako and Black Mesa honestly fit my eye better. Challenging, but fair. Keep it on the green stuff and the right part of the green. Get out here ASAP. Thanks for the memories 🤙👌
