LONG BRANCH: Blue Skies Pottery is a new addition to the popular Pier Village complex and it provides a fun activity for people of all ages!

A full service pottery shop, customers have the option to paint ready-made pottery, use a pottery wheel to craft a piece from scratch, or really get hands-on and use your hands to mold your own beautiful work of art.

At the Yelp New Jersey Elite event, the hand building class was quite an experience where the friendly owners and staff showed us how to take a ball of clay and using pinch pot form, style it into a bowl. Once the bowl shape took form, we embellished the clay with molds to add design elements. I loved the paw print mold!

The staff was very helpful to assist and made sure the art was sturdy and ready for the oven. We got to pick what color we wanted and the staff will paint it later. Pieces are usually ready 3-4 weeks after your visit, so it is a great reason to come back to the area to pick up the finished art.

I loved to learn the location is dog friendly, as long as your dog is well-behaved. Since the experience requires full attention and is hands-on, being in control of your pup is extra important. There was a doggie guest there during my visit and was a perfect pup.

Blue Skies Pottery also hosts events and collaborates with local businesses including hosting a paw print ornament workshop with the pet store next door.

Thanks to Katarina for planning this event and to the owners Valerie & Jordan for welcoming us! Nimra & Andrew were helpful staff members and supportive of all the creativity.

In addition to Long Branch, they also have a store in Hoboken!

My fiancé gifted me a pottery class for my birthday for the location in Long Branch, NJ. We were the only two on a Saturday night (which was nice). The instructor was very knowledgeable but showed us 3 basic techniques on the wheel and just let us wing it for an hour. There was never any real instruction or step by step to making something. At the end we were told to take a bucket of water and clean down our entire station. We ended the wheel portion 10 minutes before the official end of the class… so we thought there was another step to enhancing our work. The class just ended with us picking among 5 colors for our pottery. The tickets were $75 per person and that does not include at least 1 piece created! It was $15 per piece if we wished to take home our creation(s). For that price we got 5 balls of clay to play with and had to clean! At least include 1 piece for that price. We were also told we have to call them in a month to see if our pieces are done… they don’t have time to call us.Something to do on a Saturday, but will not return.

I love this pottery studio! This was my third intro class and although I’m not a master potter, the instructors are super helpful to those new to the craft. The space is so welcoming and peaceful which makes the process of throwing so relaxing. I absolutely love this place and I can’t wait to come back soon!!

My fiancé and I went to Blue Skies Pottery for my birthday and we had a great experience but we ran into a little dilemma. I paid to get my bowl painted and when I went back to Blue Skies Pottery a month after my birthday, my bowl was not painted. I called them and spoke to Jess and Jess was an absolute angel. She apologized for the inconvenience, put my bowl aside and told me I can come back whenever I’m ready. When I went back to Blue Skies Pottery my bowl was painted and packed. I was soooo happy and I have to thank Jess. Jess you’re the best!

The instructor was very unpleasant. Do not dare to ask her to repeat herself. She should not be teaching an introductory/beginners course. Every time you asked her a question, she had a snarky remark. I’ve done a pottery class in Spotswood - The Clay Pot and had such a great experience. I would never come back here. Also good luck finding the place or parking!

Blue Skies has been a game changer for me personally. I've been seeking a creative outlet & community for years, but my crazy schedule has always inhibited me from being able to pursue anything on an ongoing basis. I took the beginners course and still continue open studios, and Valerie has been so accommodating, working with me so that I can come when I'm able to fit it into my bonkers schedule. I am so grateful and appreciative. Plus, everyone at the studio is so nice and willing to help - just a really overall friendly and comfortable environment and I love seeing the progress I've made. I recommend Blue Skies to everyone!

Loved the space, and Sue was very clear and informative. They even made handles for any piece you make. I took my mom for her birthday and she loved it.

Just took a class and had such a great experience! The class was pretty intimate and the instructor was very informative and encouraging. We did the one time class and the studio provided everything. It was such a unique experience and we will be back soon to pick up our pieces!
