This was activity to do with my son on the weekend. For those who very small budget or low income, they give discounts as low as $2 for the entry fee. This place full of information and interactive things. There’s also activities for kids and adult adults. My 11 year-old enjoyed going with me and reading about Pearl Harbor the women in history and also about all the displays of objects from the past.

I volunteered with an elementary class. The museum is spectacular with their beautiful paintings and historical pieces but can do so much more as far as elevating the museum historically. They include some games for kids which is great. They can track their scores and get points for participating. There were so many great exhibits and real people who represent specific events in our past. The major downside I saw was that there was some overly biased views that took away from some exhibits.

One alarming comment I found was the idea that the Japanese who came to America were "survivors". They were detained, but to elevate them to "survivor" is a mockery of those refugees who faced actual interment camps across the globe. They should change this wording immediately. Social justice may seek to elevate shame upon America, but not at the expense of truth.

Where are the great feats of California such as the Great Depression and the Donner Party and the dangers of reaching the West. Sutter's Fort, westward expansion? History is not meant to be sanitized in the name of social justice. For example, the gold rush is basically portrayed solely through the eyes of the Japanese that worked the mines. I did not see a mention of James Marshall anywhere.

Amazing experience! So much information and history available for my son to learn about. When you buy tickets it says 45 minutes but we spent well over an hour looking at the exhibits. They are interactive and there are many opportunities for kids to draw or interact with the exhibits. Loved the Unity section and the History of Japanese internment camps was very informative. The Native American section is a good place to teach the kiddos about how natives from the U.S and Mexico are one. I love the music section as well!

A fun afternoon at the California Museum. It was more educational and interactive than most museums I have visited. I think it would be a great place to bring kids to learn about California history. I personally would have like more artworks depicting the different sections or should I say more artwork in the style of the different sections of the museum. I had a good time and found it to be a great rainy day activity.

Facility is very beautiful. I wish taking 5-12 year old children was easier. All of the LGBT Q+ is a bit much. It's not my place to explain these things to 6 year olds. Wish that was less or even a warning. But the guitar & aisian American history was amazing!

Visited for free since they participate in the Bank of America Museums on Us Program. A very informative exhibit of history and California culture. Then there’s a super fun interactive exhibit that allows you to earn real cash for charity from playing in a couple of activities at different stations. I absolutely love the gamification and getting to pick which worthy cause I wanted to donate to. Haven’t ever seen this before but I think it’s a fantastic idea. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
