I went to the Centro Cultural de la Raza to go support some artists/musicians that were performing there. It was 2Mex and Xololanxinxo from L.A. and also Anihuasca her boyfriend Donbonbei, Los Invisible Panchos from San Diego and it was hosted by Ric Scales. Sadly Xololanxinxo lost his father that week and he wasn't able to make it. It was one of the greatest shows I've ever been to. The problem was there were maybe 20 people there tops. I don't know if the artists didn't promote hard enough or if it was the responsibility of the venue. I actually couldn't find someone to go with me so for the 1st time in my life, I attended a concert ALONE. I caught 2 city buses to get there. There is a bus that drops off literally in front of the location. There was food at cost( really reasonable), it was hot dogs, chips, and beverages. The event was $10 in advance and $15 at the door. There was also a merch table. I would recommend anyone to go to their show. It was a very nice venue. I am so glad I was blessed and able to attend. I got to know 2Mex better and met his artist and DJ. I also met new friends that evening.

This review is in reference to the children’s park right next-door just doesn’t seem to have a official name to it. But it is a fantastic spot. It has amazing places to relax under the shade with a Astroturf quality grass to nice concrete benches that are 100% shaded and several play structures for a variety of ages from 2 to 12. Honestly, I expected the part to be in worse shape than it is, there are a few items that are broken and taped off as you will see in the pictures but overall at 4:00 on a Monday in July it is terrific!

I was born and raised in San Diego and this is indeed a landmark location for all residents who know Balboa Park. This place is historic in cultural education and memories making with community events. I love this place and highly recommend a visit on for any visitor.

There are many event and open visit hours. Just stop by.
The whole family is welcome.

Not a highlight of the park visit I am afraid. There didn't appear to be much to see or do in this particular museum/center.

It appears that on the day I went, it was uneventful and almost empty. I recommend checking out the place on the day of events instead of a casual visit to Balboa Park's museums. That being said, the art on the walls was beautiful.
