I love Cobalt and Clay! I have taken multiple classes there now with many instructors: Nicole, Vani and Lisa (and one fill-in class with Jamie). All are excellent teachers with their own flare and unique way of guiding you through the many processes and variations of throwing pots and hand-building. It's a warm, inclusive place that always feels fun and inviting. I can't imagine learning pottery at a stuffy place where too much pressure or judgement is placed on the work. I've met so many great people in all the classes I've taken and always look forward to going back. I love getting to support a small business as well. I highly recommend checking it out.

I loved it!! Working with clay is something I always wanted to try and I had a blast! I enrolled in the 4 week Monday night hand build class which started in Jan. In every class we were able to finish a project or two. Small intimate class with 8 students. I knew nothing about hand building but I googled a lot and watched a few YouTube videos for a little pre-knowledge. Our first class we dove right into pinch pots (that's the bowl and spoon holder in the photo), the 2nd week we tackled coil building (the vase), 3rd week was slab building (votive holder) and fourth week was finishing and glazing. The wheel throwing class was in the room next to us and they were amazing & first timers as well. That will be the next class I take which I believe starts in April.

I took Beginning Wheelthrowing with Lisa and it was awesome! Lisa is a great teacher, patient and upbeat and makes sure nobody falls through the cracks. Open Studio is such a great perk that comes with the class. With small class sizes and a big airy room, it’s a great pandemic activity. Love Cobalt and Clay!

This is a small, well run studio with a chill community vibe. I learned a lot from both my hand building and throwing instructors. Lisa and Jamiee were great. Nicole, who runs the studio, is always there to answer questions and support. I’ve met some talented artists here and love being a part of this studio.

Cobalt and Clay is an awesome creative space. The staff is friendly. The classes are well instructed and very well priced for all you get out of it. I was able to make some great pieces as a beginner. Highly recommend giving pottery a try. Especially here!

Thank you Lisa! I took the beginners 6 week course and love my pieces! My advice to newbies would be…patience, practice (take advantage of the open studio hours) and enjoy the process! Also, wear clothes that can get messy. Its a labor of love ❤️
