Just wanted everyone to be aware that this store sells a variety of minstrel show memorabilia + Jim Crow-era dolls (which were specifically designed to mock Black people in the U.S.). These dolls perpetuate harmful stereotypes, portraying African Americans as predators, subservient, childish, savage, and hypersexual—depictions which directly led to the dehumanization, degradation, and even the deaths of tens of thousands of Black people in the US. Selling these objects WITHOUT historical context, allowing them to be viewed as harmless trinkets instead of the deeply racist symbols they are is unacceptable. normalization of this kind of abuse starts in small towns and local shops like this one, where such grotesque imagery is either accepted or ignored. This is where the racism that has plagued this country for centuries festers and it's appalling to see it happening in a small Jersey town.

Absolutely love this store! I only visit once a year because I live 2 and half hours away. I always leave with something. The man (owner) behind the counter is SUPER SWEET!!! Just visited yesterday and left with an amazing antique cast iron cat and had a very nice conversation with the man about our cats. Loved him and love the store!!

I had a problem with something I purchased there and called and talked to the woman that owns the store. They were very nice and helpful in resolving my issues. I was nice to them and they were nice right back. They bent over backwards for me. I will all ways go back to that store. Thank you so much for your help Country folk.

The Man behind the counter was so nasty and miserable, I asked if the prices are negotiable as they often are at antique shops and he read me the right act about how he doesn't haggle etc.....understood he made his point I than told him I wanted to purchase a few items and that I would like to pay for them and come back to pick them up a little later due to their size and weight he told me (rudely) that the best he can do was give me paper bags. I decided right there I can't give this man any business and walked out the store, when I stepped out side there were 2 couples waiting for me and they told me they walked out once they witnessed the exchange I had with the man and they couldn't believe what they were hearing and how nasty he was towards a customer.

Absolutely horrible experience! Took a relative here who was visiting from Washington State, she was looking for oyster plates. She asked the man behind the counter to see one, he shook his head no! Then my husband asked if he had another pair of cute socks we wanted to give as gifts, he quickly replied no! Then he tells us just as the rain started, "alright folks that's it! But you can stand on the porch as long as you like." I had my 83yr old mother with us and it was pouring hard and the lightning was hitting as we stood under the small porch! It wasn't until AFTER I ran out to get the car and got soaked as we tried to get my family in the car that he came out and offered plastic bags!! What was I going to do with those?!?! Seriously?!? DON'T shop here unless you're willing to be treated like garbage!! NEVER AGAIN!!

I see mixed reviews of Marshal Cramer's Country Folk & Antique Row. I go to Smithville at least 4 or 5 times per year and always make sure I stop by. It is my favorite store. The owner is a man of a very few words but is very friendly and I always enjoy talking to him. They have vintage and reproduction. The prices are comparable to the prices in other places like this. Oh! Most of the times, I come out of the store with something I find interesting.

Maybe I'm lucky with timing or whatever but I never had a problem with the owner, he has unique items and the prices weren't that bad, we always seem to leave with something from yhe store every time we go down to Smithville .

Love all the interesting items! Found a great cast iron horse head w/ ring to hang towels, whatever. Going to a horse owner/Vet as a wedding gift!❤😊👌 Cant wait to come back!
