Played today 11/3/24 and as of this review this course is not ready to be played. I understand it’s a soft opening and admire the work that has been done thus far. 4.5 hour pace of play, tee boxes are in good shape, new sand in the bunkers, fairways are muddy, greens are patchy, small putting/chipping and there is no range. I highly advise anyone reading this review to save your money and go down the street to play the Vineyard at Escondido for the same price. I love my JC Golf Courses but I expected much better conditions especially paying $69 for the round. I recommend coming back in February for the grand opening but as things stand it is not worth your time or money to play here.

I played this course when it was at its worst condition a few years ago. What an incredible change to the facility. It’s still not perfect but it’s starting to take shape. I will definitely be coming back.

I love the layout of this course.
Unfortunately it's still trying to recover from neglect and past flooding.
Looking forward playing there again after reconditioning 😏

Stoked where this course is heading! Playable now, but in a few months it’ll be amazing. You can really tell the turnaround for this course vs a couple of years ago when my golf group agreed we’d never come back due to the unplayable conditions. One of the best layouts in SD, lots of potential and glad to see it’s on its way!

The greens and fairways were healthy, high quality sand in bunkers. We had a lot of rain so it was overgrown likely from not being able to mow. Hoping the fairways and greens can be mowed down consistently now the heavy rains are gone..my group will be regulars if so and prices stay where they are.

Played last weekend and course was better than I expected based on some previous reviews. Greens were recently punched and sanded and rolled smooth with putts true but a little slow. Staff were friendly and helpful. New people and training made checking in and food service take a bit longer than normal. Can't wait to see how the course progresses in the next few months. Still lots of work to be done to make it a great course, but for a fun round with mid-handicap friends, this place was good.

Booked an 8:06 tee time, went off around 7:55, round took about 4 hours on a Saturday, and the course was not too bad. Sure there were a few dead spots here and there on the greens, but overall they rolled just fine. Other reviews are making it seem much worse. One of the better rates in the area, and you can see that they’ve been working to make this course better. Excited to see what it’ll look like in a few months.

The course website should be more transparent about course conditions. The greens were terrible, patches of hard dirt, lumpy spots of grass and sandy spots. There's a lot of required work before they can claim remodeled. Fees should be reduced until it's complete. Not going back until spring 2025 after more work.

JCR has a ways to go returning this course to its splendor. This is a terrific, challenging track. It didn't get into bad shape over night so it's going to take time to recover.
Be prepared for very wet conditions in places on holes 1-4. Mainly because of new sod. Greens will need time and maintenance. Bermuda grass grows in splotches some pretty large areas. I'll play here probably enough to see how the course evolves.
