When around the area to check out the Salvation Mountain, the East Jesus is a short 10 minute drive that is worth checking out. The art pieces featured at the park are made of recycled metal scraps, old pieces of furniture, electronic devices and automobiles. If you’re interested in the uncanny, spacey, and randomness of art, do drop by as you’ll never understand what you’ll find.

Although East Jesus is now a 501C corporation and separate from slab city it is still well worth visiting. The community of East Jesus has taken great care to ensure the art on the property is well preserved.

The desert is a blank canvas for creativity and East Jesus sure paints a pretty picture. There are quite a few large scale art installations to explore around the property, my favorite of which being “The Television will not be Revolutionized” sets. Make sure you give this place your full attention and enough time to soak up all the magic and perspective 💭

Very cool collection of mixed media art that you can tour for free! The artists ask for donations via their Venmo handle. We met 2 of them while we were there. Cool day trip from PS!

Rather than an intentionally intriguing space filled with art, it feels more like a chaotic accumulation of raw materials. I believe there are interesting pieces, but they get lost amidst the multitude of items. The pathways are challenging to navigate, easy to lose direction. The atmosphere is a bit chaotic, making it somewhat uncomfortable.

It’s a trek…from nearly everywhere. There are enough thought provoking pieces (ever changing) to make going once worth it. It’s a harsh environment that degrades materials rather quickly.

amazing little nook in the desert! the caretaker is super friendly and the variance in pieces is really quite something. Almost a permanent burning man vibe - strongly recommend stopping over!
