We stopped by to drop off my brother Ritchie in Oakdale after a hospital visit. The waitress was busting a move we had carne asada burritos. The salsa was on fleek with a a great kick on point with flavor town.

My husband and I have been going here regularly for at least eight years, and we love it! The owner and staff are consistently friendly and on top of things, the food is consistently great, and they don’t get snooty when you ask for substitutions because of dietary restrictions (unlike a newer restaurant in town, where I won’t be eating again🫤). Their margaritas are consistently excellent, also.😋. This is our favorite restaurant in town, and it’s so comfortable - almost like visiting family (the pleasant ones😁). I highly recommend El Jardin!!

The Owner (I think) was a tank. We came during off-peak hours at 3:30 and he was the only one taking orders, waiting tables, and cooking. Despite that, he got our food as well as the orders for other tables in a timely manner. Amazing work. On the other hand, some of the food left us wanting a little more. The portions were well sized, and dishes with chicken had a lot of meat but the only gripe is that the meat packed flavor. It didn't seem to be grilled or really marinated so there wasn't much to taste. The shrimp cocktail was on the sweeter side but the owner graciously offered to remake it to a different taste.

Flour chips were great, the sauce they brought us when I asked for one not spice was a good combination, I ordered the shrimp quesadilla, it came in with rice and beans and sour cream and guacamole, it was delicious, the place is pleasant, I really like all the plants outside, seats are comfortable and decoration is tasteful. Service was good too, will definitely return next time I am in the area.

I've so far had the steak Fajitas and Cocktail Shrimp. I feel like presentation of fajitas could be better. I'm not big on the food being overcooked and then having overcooked food on a scorching skillet. Probably better idea to lightly oil or butter the skillet after placing fajitas. As far as the Cocktail Shrimp goes, I've never had a Cocktail Shrimp with diabla sauce in it, that Cocktail was like an Aguachile Rojo hot. If you're not a fan on high level spice, I'd recommend telling them to hold the spice. Overall food is good but could use minor improvements. I like this spot. I'd definitely be back to try more items.
