NO PUBLIC BATHROOMS!!! I stopped here because it supposedly had the nearest bathroom. I was going to check out some merchandise afterwards. So much for being "treated like relatives"! I usually avoid those relatives!

I pass this place often going to the VA
Finally, after a year, I decided to check it out.
It's a great shop featuring high end quality merchandise. I would bring any serious collectors to this place.

I have shopped here plenty of times before my last encounter. I simply went into the store because I had called the day before about a Navajo dictionary. Unfortunately only one out of the two books I purchased was what I needed. Not to mention I found out that the same book they were selling in the store cost me $15 and I could have bought it somewhere else for only $5. So I decided I wanted a refund, I walked into the store the following day and kindly asked the lady at the front register if I could get a refund but without greeting me or asking questions, she decided to set a little paper down in front of me that said "return policy," and then proceeded to tell me to talk to the manager, and pointed towards the back and walked off. The "manager" I talked with, his name is Darrel and right away said NO! there's no returns and all sales are final. He was the person that cashed me out the day before and not once mentioned a NO return policy. He also tried giving me the same piece of paper the lady at the front register tried to give me. So of course we argued and then he asked if I wanted to speak with his DM and I said yes. He went to the back, came back out and said have a seat she'll be with you. I asked how long she would be and he rudely said "she's on a phone call right now. she'll get to you when she's finished." It wasn't until then I told him how rude he and his associate were and he then said "we are not rude here," with attitude in his voice. I explained to him as a manager he should have pointed out the no return policy upon check out to reassure his customers so that this wouldn't happen. He then said, "there are signs all over the store." This is a trading post with jewelry, rugs, dishes, books, etc. why would I want to walk around the store reading signs? In the end, Darrel issued my refund, but in the middle of the transaction, he said, "I am only doing this because I know who your parents are." So is that how this business operates? You have to know someone on the inside to get things done? WOW! what ever happened to good old fashion customer service?

Stunning work by a variety of artists. Each counter was staffed by its own knowledgeable person. Alas, the prices had too many zeros for me to bring anything home. It was still inspiring to see the skills represented.

While this store wasn't as close to the interstate as we like, it was well worth the extra few minutes it took to get there. Walking in the door, we found a wonderful place to shop for Native American crafts, gifts, souvenirs, etc. Walking through the store is a long process, because each shelf and display case contained items of interest, beauty, and craftsmanship. There is so much to see that we could have easily spent hours there.

I found a Navajo-English Dictionary for 10$ I take Navajo 1 at UNM so this will be handy for Joe Kee's class!!! Thank you so much for your wide selection of Navajo books there great for practicing Navajo! Ellis Tanner saved a Students grade!!!
