This is the second time I’m spending a week holiday at Enchantment Equitreks and I’m never going back twice in the same place. So that pretty much says everything.
Mel and Justyn are taking such a good care of their horses and know them perfectly. So they will be bale to see which one will be the best match for you. Spoiler alert : all the horses are lovely.
All the rides were different with amazing landscape. We even got the chance to see wild horses on the last day !
I had such a great time with Mel, Justyn and Karen.
I almost forget to speak about the food ! don’t plan on a diet going there, the food is amazing with local ingredients.

A once-in-a-lifetime journey, from galloping across the arroyos in the Galisteo Basin to scaling 18,000 feet in the Pecos Wilderness like a mountain goat on the most gorgeous black beauty look alike! I’m grateful for this last minute solo trip, it was so worth it and made new friends along the way! 💕 🐴 🏔️ 🏜️ Perfect for groups and single travelers. Cuisine and accommodations are top notch too!

My stay in New Mexico with the wonderful family at Enchantment was by far one of the best times of my life. If you don't read this entire review, I just wanted you to know that. I hope you'll plan to stay with them, it will be a life changing experience.
Everyone at Enchantment took me in like family, from the moment Mel picked me up at the airport, to the family dinners, stories on the trail, and the moment we tearfully said goodbye. Right away I felt at home talking with Mel on the ride from Albuquerque out to the ranch, and got right into the saddle for a ride out in the pasture with Justyn after settling into the adorable guest house (which had an awesome salt water hot tub out back where I spent every evening!). Everyone was so encouraging and warm, I got my seat back in no time and we were galloping along the Rio Grande and through the desert in the Galisteo Basin that week. The horses were wonderful and intuitive, I miss them as much as all my new sisters. Their pack of adorable dogs at the ranch will cuddle and play with you if you like (I fell in love and had a couple sleeping in my room!), and join you on the trail. Meals were incredible, all homemade with fresh ingredients and traditional New Mexican elements. We rode through desert, mountains, brilliant cottonwood forest, pine forest, fields, and even took the horses for a swim in the Rio. No other way to describe it, it was magical.
Each day we trailer out to a stunning location, ate amazing meals trailside, and the ladies were planning to go scout more new spots as soon as the season ended, so each trip can be new and exciting for you, them, and the horses. This is not your everyday trail riding. Mel and Justyn are the best of people and they attract the same in the people and horses they work with. Their 3rd outfitter, Gabby, and their intern Paige were an absolute dream to hang out with and ride alongside. When we finished our rides, we would often go into town to check out a cool shop, or head over to the large rescue ranch they partner with, Walking 'N Circles Ranch, for a visit. We ate family dinner together each night, and I had the opportunity to meet a couple different lovely travelers during my stay, with more great stories to share. They only take up to 3 or 4 intermediate to experienced riders at any time, so you get an intimate experience to bond with everyone, and really ride. To top off an already amazing trip, it is wonderful to know that the payment for your stay and rides helps magnificent rescue horses be rehabilitated and find their forever homes. I grew very attached to their spirited appaloosa, Xena, who I rode everyday. I am so thankful for everyone I met.
I left feeling rested, inspired and free, but deeply sad to go because it truly felt like home. Thank you all infinitely for everything, I will definitely be booking a longer stay next time, if I haven't moved there already 😉
Please go and experience this wonderful place yourself, you'll never forget it.

We had a blast!! Great hosts (mother and daughter team), nice horses and wranglers! They keep the guest to no more than 5 and really pay attention to detail! The food was fabulous and served in their home. We booked during the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta! Wow!! 5 days of riding, mountains and desert, Sunrise and sunsets and balloons! Definitely checked off one on the bucket list!

I was gifted the 8 day EquiYoga trip and could not have imagined a more incredible experience.

Justyn's yoga practices are integrative, responsive to the practitioner, and focused on attunement with yourself and your horse. Deeply practical (and necessary) Yin provides restorative work at the end of each day, while morning practices are focused on building equine-human relationship and skills. Justyn's approach to Mind-Body-Spirit balance with our horses is unique and deeply impactful.

The riding was the most technical and challenging of my life - you can ride for 45 years in the midwest and never encounter mountain rock-hopping trails or canyons and arroyos!

Mel, Justyn and the wranglers choose a ride for each day that suits the riders, the weather and the horses...demonstrating again their focus on the human-horse connection. After the second day, I had to go find a thesaurus because I ran out of superlatives to describe what I was seeing, experiencing and learning. I've hiked all over the Western mountain ranges, but there's nothing to compare with working with your horse to make it up a pass and into the bright, pine-flecked sweetness of a mountain meadow.

Mel makes outstanding, authentically New Mexican meals that nourish and extend a gracious invitation to culinary adventure. The guest house is perfectly appointed to offer comfort and quiet, ease and horse-lover-appropriate proximity to the barn. The hot tub is also necessary - therapeutic and restorative.

Their love for this land and the stewardship they have embraced in this effort is humbling and inspiring, infectious in the best possible way. I'll be applying to return...

I went to the State Fair week in September and I cannot say enough good things!!!
I came across Enchantment Equitreks a few years ago and it was immediately a dream vacation. I put off going for years because of time/money/scheduling and finally gave into temptation one day on a whim.
I am so glad I did!
First of all, my biggest concern was being safe as I was traveling alone as a young female, but I was picked up at the airport and felt safe the whole vacation.
Everyone is so nice and will make you feel right at home and like you are part of the family!
The views were spectacular and the horses were very well trained and very well taken care of. These were not plodding, slow, nose-to-tail trail horses but active and well trained mounts appropriate for intermediate riders who like to trot and canter.
The food every night was incredible and authentic and so was the conversation!
The trip included the chance to see the State Fair and explore some of the history and art and textile work of the local Native American's and to take a day trip to a local town to site-see.
It was truly a once in a lifetime experience, but having said that I certainly hope I get to return one day and that my first trip was just the first trip of many!!!

I joined the last trip of 2023 for the fall foliage week. I dont know how to put this review into words, but in short, it was a life changing experience. Justyn, Mel, and Karen are just beyond wonderful and genuine. They made me feel so welcomed and really made my week so special. Beyond New Mexico being a beautiful place to ride, the Enchantment Equitreks crew really cares about your experience and their horses. I cant wait to plan another week with them. The rides, the food, the laughs...Ill never forget! I left with a happy heart and soul. Dont hesitate and book your experience with them!!

Just incredible in every way possible! I was the ranch hand volunteer for the first week of the season. These ladies are so passionate, energetic, welcoming and skilled that it made it feel like I was family the moment I arrived. I own an animal care service in VT working with mostly dogs. This was my way of working with an animal that I don't get enough of and they certainly had top notch horses. I was matched with Mia the perfect horse for my skill and energy. The food was incredible and the cultural experiences matched the area. I would return again for certain! You need to be an intermediate rider due to the horses spirited behaviors and the rough terrain. But they give one on one attention and keep the groups small.
