All signs point to this being an amazing group that work hard for the city, land, nature and people of Fallbrook! Of their managed lands Monserate seems the most popular, it’s a moderately strenuous steep hike that offers good views but personally I don’t love that it is so close to the noise of the freeway and is so exposed to the sun and heat of a hot day; a better pick is Karen Tucker at Hellers Bend, this hike is just as steep but shorter, features a stream crossing, more shade, less busy but does have limited parking. Bonsall Preserve is large and flat, parking can be a challenging but they are soon building a big modern park into part of this area and planting more native trees in the other parts of it. Los Jilgueros is closer to downtown Fallbrook, has great parking, great shade cover, rolling hills, stream and duck pond as well as fun bridge features to keep kids interested in the hike! Dinwiddie is small so often overlooked by the crowds but has amazing shade cover and clean trails. My wife and have been having fun exploring the different managed areas and just had our second son so we happy to have fun managed local lands in town for our boys to enjoy. Plenty of opportunities to volunteer at these areas for individuals or families!

Did the land conservancy hike above the former Fallbrook Golf Course property, now a soon to be winery. The access is on the north end of the winery, parking off a.driveway to the right of a locked gate. The trailhead is maybe 200 yards west, to the left of a winery building, currently under construction. The trail is a loop, moderate, easy to follow, maybe about a mile long, with a nice climb up the hill and good view at the top. A little hard to find (we were directed to the trailhead) but worth the effort.

Went to a fund raiser event and participated in a silent auction, purchased tickets to the Farmers Open, went online to get my tickets but the website on the ticket given to me did not exist, went to the office that sponsors the event and was told the tickets would be emailed to me, never happened, called the Fallbrook Land Conservancy and talked to Heather, told her of the situation and she said she would call them to see what was going on and would call me back, never happened. I went to the office there on Stage Coach to talk to Heather in person, she seemed concerned and called the sponsor directly, handed me the phone and again was told that the tickets would be emailed to me, never happened, now I am frustrated and just want my money back. Heather never called me to see if I had been taken care of, that makes me a little suspicious that the tickets never existed in the first place. I will not support that organization again.

FLC tore down dirt mounds in our neighborhood today. Kids & families built this during the quarantine. They all worked so hard & then enjoyed the fruits of their labor. Kids were riding bikes & running across these mounds and so were their parents. People were living this quarantine unplugged. Everyone was maintaining healthy distances, absorbing the sun and breathing fresh air. And this Fallbrook Land group simply destroyed it all. 😪
