The Gokhale Method aims to support positive posture change, by learning from and following posture from earlier times and more traditional cultures. I have found it to be most valuable, and the training is supportive to effectively correct habits which are not healthy. This method should be your first step in moving towards less pain and improved flexibility and strength, regardless of what your activities are. My in-person instructor was Kerri Robinson in Washington state, who is empathetic, organized, and clear in her teaching, and was willing to give additional instructions after class to ensure I didn't miss anything. I am grateful.

Just completed a 6-Day in person Foundations course with Esther Gokhale. I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants to gain greater mobility and a better posture without pain.

She teaches how to re-align the body properly as we sit, stand, bend and walk. An incredible amount of information is taught regarding the Gokhale Method, but Esther makes it simple and easy to understand and experience. She adjusted my body until I could feel and understand what she was teaching. Esther provided at least 3 or 4 different ways to move into the correct position / movement and had fun ways to think of about them as well. She is a fantastic teacher and shows many pictures of what good posture and movement look like.

The before and after pictures really showed how change can occur.

This course was absolutely transformative! I've struggled with poor posture for years, leading to chronic aches and pains. Esther's deep knowledge of the body and how it functions is evident, and she presented the information in a clear, concise, and easy-to-understand way. I especially appreciated the practical tips and exercises for correcting my posture while sitting, standing, walking, and even sleeping. I've already started implementing the techniques, and I'm amazed at how much better I feel. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to become pain-free and build a stronger, healthier body.

I met with Gokhale Instructor Amy Smith for the Gokhale Foundations in-person workshop. It was amazing and so helpful. Amy is very experienced and was able to easily explain complex concepts in lay person terms. I've definitely had improvements with my back and hip pain. Her 4-point checklist that she wrote and worked on with me for walking is something I constantly refer to and use.

The three day workshop with Kerrie Robinson in Washing state was really rewarding and I am embracing the stretch sit position as I write this. Kerri was a very good teacher and patient with us. I am also much more aware of my head being forward and am able to make adjustments frequently. I wish there were a Gokhale teacher in Portland Oregon!! Any volunteers? Thank you, Kerri

I just completed the Foundations course with Amy E. Smith in South Carolina who was awesome in teaching to me the Gokhale method for all aspects of my posture! I bought the book (8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back) which was great, but I had difficulty learning and implementing all the posture instructions corrections on my own. The Foundations course was perfect for teaching me everything in a hands-on setting. I had no idea how many things were wrong with my posture, and I have lived with back and neck pain for five years. Amy was an expert teacher in all methods. From both professional and personal experiences, she was able to teach me how to make changes to my sitting, standing, bending, and walking postures. Having before and after pictures taken really showed a dramatic change. There were so many things I found difficult, particularly maintaining a rib anchor, elongating my neck, sitting with my “tail out”, and bending (hip-hinging) correctly! Amy was patient and taught me, step-by-step how to make the incremental changes. We practiced each posture over and over until I felt comfortable. Amy was also helpful in teaching me how to make these changes in my every day life without over-thinking the process. It is nice to have the book with all the wonderful photos to refer back to too. I highly recommend the Amy and the Gokhale method to anyone living with back pain. Thank you.

I've just completed the 6 session class to reshape my posture. Doreen was great to work with. She has a depth of understanding about how the Gokhale Method works. The whole program is a remarkable shift in our understanding about the spine and posture. It helps with a host of issues, including and relevant to me is bone loss. I'm encouraged to find a program that is providing me with subtle shifts that will allow bone to grow exactly where it is needed. I also now have a good understanding of how to adjust my standing, sitting, walking, and laying down to offer the greatest benefit to the health and wellbeing of my body. I'm looking forward to continuing to integrate the concepts into my life! I already don't need to go to the chiropractor as often!

In 2020 I took the elements course online during COVID and it was a big help with my chronic back pain. More recently I saw an announcement for a refresher course for university alumni. I signed up and I am so glad I did. David focused on the areas I needed help with and I left the lesson standing taller with better bean shaped feet, also some exercises to strengthen some weak areas. It was just what I needed. Thank you so much for this refresher.
