The best studio in the bay. Dan and his team have created a flourishing community of ceramic artists that champion each other without the pretense. The amount of glaze options, cone 10 oxidation and reduction firing, Raku and soda kilns surpasses any community studio I know in the bay. bravo for this new and airy location. Higher fire JTown clay is a great place to be creative, inspired, or just play with clay. It’s a spacious studio, full of light, with plenty of space for work, and plenty of storage. There’s always something interesting going on; classes and fellow potters working around. Staff members are knowledgeable, and always ready to help. The neighborhood is pleasant, with plenty of free parking spaces, in case the studio parking is full. The studio has long opening hours and very reasonable prices.

Second and new location for Higher Fire Studio, in the JapanTown neighborhood of San Jose. It's a fantastic ceramics studio with lots of wheels, hand building, glazes, kilns and the works. Most of all, the management and staff are amazingly skilled and wonderful people.

Great clay place! Friendly staff. Well thought out, excellent facility. I only took a workshop, so can’t speak to the quality of the teaching, but they have an excellent reputation. An added bonus is being in Japan town. Great area. Pro tip: Try J Town Pizza.
