**NOTE: this is a historical tour - this is NOT a college tour.

My family and I took this tour the week of the 4th of July 2023 and it was one of the best things we did in St. Augustine. Highly recommend buying tickets in advanced online to make sure the tour isn’t fully booked. The tour takes place at the actual college - you will meet for the tour inside Flagler (entrance has a statue and is directly across the street from the Lightner Museum).

Our tour guide did an amazing job explaining the history, background, and inspiration for the college and its prior history as a hotel. Walking is limited to the college and isn’t agressive. Highly recommend spending the $15+ to get out of the heat.

A former Gilded Age hotel - the Ponce de León Hotel - turned local college - this building clearly embodies the extravagance of the ultra-wealthy of the era. Commissioned by railroad tycoon Henry Flagler (hence the name) along with the two large buildings across the street as he sought to develop the eastern coast of Florida while concurrently laying his railroad, it feels impressive marveling at the intricacy put into these architectural works, and interesting to learn how they fit into Florida’s history. As it is used as a college now, you can only tour the foyer, the former grand parlor room, courtyard, and dining hall but it is still worth it in my opinion and informative. Our student tour guide did a great job.
