Seemed like a very nice, upscale hotel. First day of our Princess cruise line vacation. Food was good, but pricey as you would expect for a luxury class hotel. The room was nice, clean and comfortable with an excellent view of the waterfront. When we checked out in the morning my wife’s Kindle was accidentally left behind. Upon discovering this that evening we immediately called the hotel to have them check lost and found. A Kindle is not like an earring or something tiny. It’s hard to miss in a proper room clean up and it’s not likely to be mistaken for a scrap paper or paper bag. Mysteriously it has been 2 weeks and it has never surfaced. We even made a special stop 2 days later to personally inquire into the lost and found. Their attitude seemed to be “oh well, sucks to be you”. As far as the hotel was concerned, case closed. Maybe they need to have a truth in advertising and change the name to Captain Crook Hotel. If you stay here, watch your valuables…..they do!

Friendly staff, comfy rooms, great onsite restaurants and within walking distance to stores, attractions and restaurants. What’s not to like? Good value for money. The only thing that can make it better is if the bathroom inside the room was bigger and updated. Will definitely stay here if I come back to Anchorage.

Great upscale place to stay downtown. Rooms are small but comfortable. Good location. Good service. I recommend the bar upstairs during happy hour. The pool/ sauna downstairs was deserted, had it all to myself, which was nice.

Rooms were great and very spacious. There is no fan in the restroom, however (just typical of older hotels..not much you can do). One window we could open for a blast of fresh air, which was fantastic. I would've given 5 stars across the board, BUT they charge you $100 on account for "extras," but do not reimburse you until a few days later AFTER you check out. No biggie, but it feels mildly greasy to do.

The Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage is a large and impressive property with three distinct towers offering a wide range of amenities. During my stay in one of their Junior Suites, I found the space not only expansive but also perfectly designed for comfort. The Jr. suite featured a separate living area with seating, which made it an ideal spot to host a few guests. The bedroom was generously sized, and the bed and linens were extremely comfortable. The views from the room were incredible, with sights of downtown Anchorage, and the Chugach Mountains.

This hotel offers a variety of on-site amenities, including a barbershop, shoe shine service, athletic facilities, an indoor pool, multiple dining options like the upscale Crow's Nest restaurant and many others. Its convenient downtown location puts you just a short walk from popular spots like the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail and several shops and restaurants, making it a great base for exploring Anchorage. Whether you're here for business or leisure, the Captain Cook has everything you need for a memorable stay.

Excellent hotel. We stayed there as a part of our Alaska princess cruise for one night. All staff were outstanding, friendly and efficient. The room was beautiful and very clean. We had two meals at the pub and loved both. Breakfast at the Big restaurant was great. We even tried reindeer sausage! If we ever return to Anchorage, we will stay there.

Very nice location, can easier catch trolley tour or find different places to eat.
But, that's about everything nice I can say about this place. We weren't checked in early, but the room was poorly cleaned: toilet bowl still dirty with suspicious stains, debris on window seat, bed not properly made (looked like someone was taking a nap then just toss the pillow in a hurry, and there were socks from previous guest...
So, you would generally expect more for a downtown 4 star hotel, but our room proved that everything is possible, I won't recommend this place to anyone I know.

First time stay here. Service, location and atmosphere was great. So much history and charm to the place with all the shops, art and old school athletic club with wet and dry sauna, pool and comfy lounges. Could have spent another 2 hours in the club. All staff was friendly and the chat of all things Alaska I had with Carl hosting at the athletic club was enjoyable. Although the rooms were clean and quiet, I could have used a plusher bed but I slept just fine. No doubt will return when back in Anchorage and ready for a respite.
