We had a great experience at the Hyatt Place Emeryville. The beds are comfortable and the pillows were just right, comfy and soft. Big soft towels and a clean and spacious room. Staff was friendly and helpful. As Hyatt members, we got a late check out. The locations is really fun with an outdoor walk-able mall on one side and a Public Market on the other. Parking was easy and accessible. Highly recommend this property. We will definitely be back!

I have mixed feelings about this property. At $185 a night, this was far more expensive than competitive Marriott properties in adjacent Oakland. Biggest issue was the obvious lack of maintenace evident throughout the property. ||I stayed on the 6th floor and I counted 6 hallway lightbulbs completely out. How does a Hyatt not bother with replacing light bulbs? This is the easiest thing to remedy but judging by the sheer number of light bulbs out, this has gone largely ignored for quite some time. There is no excuse for that. ||Other areas both in the room and public spaces showed similar signs of neglect. I've stayed at neighboring Marriott properties in Oakland numerous times and I've never seen such level of neglect in their properties. The showerheads they have in the showers are also almost unusable. They have such limited water that it makes it difficult to take a shower quickly, so you end up taking a longer shower which defeats the purpose of these ridiculous low flow shower heads they have installed. I'm a loyal Hyatt customer and I try to stay at Hyatt properties whenever I can, but I would seriously question staying here again. ||The only positive thing from my stay was I found their breakfast better than expected with hot egg dishes as well as fresh fruit offerings. Other than that, there was nothing positive to say about this property.

Good location, near shops and food. The rooms suitable, however fridge was broken. Do not pay for the bay view room. Not as pictured in the ads. View was of the highway and buildings. Bay couldn't be seen at night. Bay very far in the distance seen the next morning. Wish I hadn't paid additional for the view.

A delicious free breakfast with good food and drinks. Outdoor seating was available but it was too rainy then. Very easy to find your way around and through the hotel. Great rooms with hot water and large beds. A great extra bed in the couch to sleep on. Great view of the city and close to a lot of places. The one bad thing was that the bathroom door was hard to lock.

Great, accountable front desk service and staff experience! Very satisfied with breakfast food, and room conditions were very comfortable. When we experienced issues in the room the staff immediately responded and understood our concerns. Would definitely stay again!

My husband and I have been loyal Hyatt members for years, and this wasn’t our first time staying at this particular hotel. However, after our recent experience, we felt it was necessary to share this so others can be aware of what might happen. We booked an 8-day stay here during the Christmas season and encountered two very frustrating issues:

1. Billing: Upon check-out, we discovered an $84 discrepancy between the receipt and the charge on my husband’s credit card. When we brought it up, the customer service treated us as if we were making a false accusation. We provided evidence, including screen captures, and they eventually admitted it was due to their “system malfunction.” However, there was no apology. Resolving this error took nearly a month of back-and-forth communication. Initially, they ignored our emails, bounced our calls between departments, and refused to admit THEIR MISTAKE.

Most alarmingly, they had mistakenly charged our credit card for another guest’s stay—including charges for their pet, which was completely unacceptable. Had we not carefully reviewed the receipt and disputed the charge, this error would have gone unnoticed and uncorrected.

2. Housekeeping: Although we requested housekeeping every other day, our room was cleaned only ONCE during the entire 8-day stay. Despite multiple requests at the front desk for towels, trash removal, and basic cleaning, the staff was consistently unresponsive. They repeatedly said someone would be sent, but this never happened. After several complaints, we received a single delivery of towels, but no additional cleaning was done. What’s baffling is that we noticed other rooms being cleaned during this time.

Regarding housekeeping, contrary to their claim, we NEVER put the do not disturb sign on. They claimed the service had been performed twice during our stay, which was untrue. Even if it had been, it still wouldn’t have aligned with our original request for service every other day.

Given these experiences, I cannot recommend this hotel. As someone familiar with the area, I can confidently say there are plenty of other options in Emeryville that won’t subject you to inconsistent housekeeping, billing errors, or dismissive staff attitudes. Regular housekeeping and accurate billing are the bare minimum expectations for a hotel stay. Unfortunately, you’ll have to deal with these issues here, along with a dismissive and unhelpful attitude from staff who clearly don’t prioritize their guests.

My family and I stayed at the Hyatt place this Xmas while visiting family. Usually we stay at the Hyatt House down the street, but decided to give this place a try. Usually this place is more expensive than Hyatt house and appeared to be a newer hotel. We checked in on Xmas eve, the check in went smooth everything was downhill from there. It was a horrible experience. The hotel is super loud and you can hear noises from the hallway, above and below you while in your room . Our toilet was loud and made a loud noise for 30+ minutes when flushed . ( we didn’t notice this until late the night of check in). They don’t have any microwaves for rental l, just one small microwave for the entire hotel located in the kitchen that was old and had not been cleaned. You have to pay for parking which is expected however their parking lot is extremely small if no parking is available you have to park in a garage down the block. We returned to our hotel late Xmas eve to find the parking lot was full. I had to double park and walk to the front to ask them where to park. I was then told about the lot across the street. Mind you we were traveling with a toddler and it was extremely cold that night. This info would’ve been helpful during check in. Xmas morning we requested housekeeping while we went to our families house for the holiday. We were told the hotel is “eco friendly” and housekeeping is only provided every other day meaning if you only stay for two nights you will not get your room cleaned. It would be nice if they disclosed this clearly on their booking site or at check in. “eco friendly” is just another way to cut expenses and not provide good service to their customers. We were told by the front desk personnel that if someone canceled they would put us on the list to have our room cleaned however at the very least , they will bring fresh towels and empty the garbage. I asked if they can make the bed as well and they declined. We returned late from our families house Xmas night. No towels had been provided and the trash had not been emptied. It was late so we placed the trash outside our room door and went to sleep. On the day of checkout we went to the front desk and asked to speak with management. The young woman verbalized she was one of the managers. We cited our multiple issues and her only response was “I’m sorry to hear that, I will retrain my staff”. We are Hyatt Gold members and love the service provided at the Hyatt House. This place was terrible. If you have an option especially if traveling with family avoid this hotel.

Super decent hotel. The rooms are nice, the hotel is in a good location (right by the mall). Walking distance to a lot of shops and restaurants. The breakfast is complimentary, which is really nice.
