This was my first photography workshop, Kah-Wai and his team made it a great experience. They made sure we got the shots even if it meant going back to some locations when the weather was better. His team was very knowledgeable and passionate about landscape photography. Their feedback and recommendations turned into many “aha” moments with amazing landscape photographs now hanging on the walls around my house. The whole team was very personable, fun and caring from the moment we first shook hands until we hugged and said goodbye at the airport.

I throughly enjoyed my Mongolia Workshop with Kai-Wai. He is a talented photographer with incredible images on his website. (My first criteria for picking a workshop). Over the years, he has established local contacts that get the group where they need to be. Once on site, he has a gift for seeing the compositions available will help you learn as well. In case that is not enough, his workshops usually include a cultural component that few other leaders can/will offer. Not only do you get the amazing image you came for but also, an enriching cultural experience as well.

I attended the Lofoten Workshop last week with Kah Wai and it was amazing. Excellence begins with the preparation of the trip, you are informed of every detail of the trip, the clothes and equipment that will be needed. During the workshop you will be at the right time and in the right place to get the best light and your best photo. Kah Wai is always guiding participants through composition and adjustment techniques. We also had photography editing sessions. The workshop with Kah Wai is really fantastic. I recommend it and I'm already signed up for another one.

As the organizer: He provided trip information well in advance. He’s a detailed planner: we had what we needed to be comfortable in the Arctic. We also had the details on all photo shoot locations.
As a photographer: He’s a good teacher in that he’s available, patient, and very knowledgeable. He’s there to help his clients take photos. Those traits are a rare find in the business of workshops.
And finally, he can deal with the unexpected bumps in the road and keep going.

With his exceptional photography skills and adept teaching abilities, coupled with his remarkable organizational proficiency in managing multiple workshops, he ensures participants are always in the perfect spot to capture stunning images. Despite facing challenges thrown by Mother Nature, his patience and expertise guarantee a rewarding experience. Although we missed witnessing a dancing Aurora, I gained valuable knowledge and thoroughly enjoyed exploring Norway's breathtaking landscapes, leaving me far from disappointed.

I attended a photography workshop with Kah-Wai Lin in The Lofoten Islands of Norway in February of 2025. I’m very new to photography with little experience and, up to that point, no real training. I knew how to turn my camera on and mount a lens but little else. Kah-Wai helped me immensely, he has an impressive depth of knowledge which he willingly shared in very understandable ways - he’s a great photographer and an accomplished instructor. He taught me proper camera settings, how to use filters, composition, proper exposure, how to use histograms, even how best to use my tripod and so much. I arrived a neophyte and a week later I left with the knowledge and confidence to take images that I can be proud of.

The workshop itself was exceptionally well organized. Shooting locations were absolutely epic. The accommodations were very comfortable. Kah-Wai’s communications prior to the workshop were thorough and informative, he made sure I knew exactly what equipment, clothing and other items to bring and what to expect when I arrived. I highly recommend a workshop with Dr. Lin, you won’t be disappointed. It was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a very long time and I’ll absolutely be attending more workshops with him in the future.

Had my 1st trip with Kah Wai end Jan - early Feb 2025. Trip preparation was very good as he sent detailed information of the destination, safety info, expected photo shoots even things needed to pack. During photo shoots, Kah Wai paid attention to each participant in the group, giving suggestions, tips, etc to make the best landscape photos of the place, which was very much appreciated!
Despite encountering bad weather that needed a last minute change in the journey, overall it was a good experience as at the end of the day it is our safety that's the priority and we were able to continue with our journey back.
