This hotel is in a great location. The fisherman’s wharf and pier 39 are walking distance. Their biggest asset is the front desk staff. They provided outstanding service and were very friendly. They were also very helpful when we asked directions on navigating the city. The room setup was outstanding and they even have a record player.

My only gripe is on our last night the building lost power for several hours. The room temperature was extremely uncomfortable and we couldn’t sleep at all. When I checked outside, it seemed like the hotel was the only building that didn’t have power. Other than that, this hotel was awesome.

We stayed here three nights, Thursday through Saturday, and had a great time.
I liked the complimentary wine/beer/drink hour in the lobby every night, it's a nice start to the evening.
All the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful.
The main reason we stayed here was the proximity to Fisherman's Wharf, which was about one block north of us.
The rooms were very comfortable and had a record player with a couple of records available to each room. If you want more records you can go down the lobby and check some out down there.
There is a restaurant on the premises, and it was pretty good for breakfast, but we didn't try it for dinner since we went to other places in town.
There is parking and valet here, but we didn't have to use it
I felt safe and comfortable here and would probably stay here again in the future.

We consider the Kimpton Alton as a huge factor in making our trip to San Fransisco as great as it was. We loved the vintage style of the hotel, and the location was unbeatable. Highly recommend taking advantage of the complimentary bikes to explore the city as well as evening happy hour & coffee service in the morning. Our rooms were very clean and the beds were incredibly comfortable!

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here! Great location and wonderful staff! The lobby is exciting as they had a DJ and free refreshments as well as an open bar for guests that lasts for a couple of hours. There’s a restaurant inside the lobby as well and it had great decor and a lively ambiance. We didn’t try the restaurant but from what I saw from reviews, the food is great. The hotel is super cute- can’t wait to return!

Rooms are about on par with Holiday Inn Express next door. But management can be a nightmare. At times you may have to wait more than an hour in line for check in (the hotel is used by large groups and they rarely have enough personnel at the front desk to handle check ins. The AC is turned to reduced strength at night. Rooms either open so you are looking into the windows of other guest rooms only a few feet away across a narrow courtyard, or they are on a street in a seedy area of fisherman’s wharf where you can hear people talking at all hours of the night. Particularly bad when the bars start to close. On one night the internet stopped working. The windows don’t open so when the AC gets low you have no alternative but to sort of bake in the room. Management is no help at all. While I have had nice exchanges always with the front desk staff, there is often a language barrier with management if anything is escalated. There are many nice hotels in this price range around fisherman’s wharf…I hope you find one! Holiday Inn Express and Kimpton are both IHG hotels but perhaps there is more management training at Holiday Inn Express.

We had an amazing stay! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Paul the bellboy. The lobby was always buzzing with activity and the little details, like having vinyl records and a turntable in the room, made our experience even more special. The selection of records was great, and I had to listen to "Remain in Light" by Talking Heads. It was a truly cool touch.

I’ve stayed here for two separate trips to SF for work, and both have been outstanding. The rooms are perfectly decorated, and you can upgrade to a larger space or keep it small. The customer service is above and beyond, they are truly so welcoming each stay. There’s really thoughtful touches during your stay like borrowing a plant to take care of in your room, or choosing a record from their collection to use with the player in each room. I brought my dog on my second stay and it was so relaxing, she absolutely loved it. They offer water bowls, dog beds, and make you feel at home without charging an extra arm and foot. The Filipino restaurant on the bottom is also fantastic, highly recommend. I can’t wait to return!

Great location to walk to wharf, piers, Ghiradeli square liquor store, restaurants & CVS. Also, hotel is very clean hotel & housekeeping is very nice.|However, there is no table to eat at in the room, or a luggage rack to put your stuff. The bathroom vanity is way too small and has no where to put any toiletries. All they need to do is add 2 shelves to be perfect. And I was there using IHG points & was told $125 hold per night on card which is fine but instead was charged almost $497! I asked 2 clerks why there was a $497 hold (see pic) & neither could tell me & neither was willing to put forth any effort to correct it. At check out I requested a copy of my bill but Brian said he could not fix the $497 or give me a copy & it "should" be ok if not I can phone the hotel later. Why would I phone the hotel when I was standing in the hotel at that time?
