I loved visiting La Peña! Everyone here is incredibly kind. I really enjoy the programming they do and how it connects with community care. I attended the archiving event for some of their historical posters relating to Chile and had a wonderful time learning more about how to help archive different historical documents. I highly recommend this center!

I love La Pena. This gem of Berkeley has sponsored diverse cultural programs that support and benefit local artists, and communities as well as international arts and artists from the global south and beyond. After an evening of amazing musical and educational presentation, you and walk next door for a fabulous meal of delicious tacos, pupusas, fried fish and other authentic food.

Went to dance here at the monthly event. They start off with a salsa class followed by a bachata class to learn the basic steps. Thereafter, they have 2 rooms available for each so you can go back and forth as desired.
Their kitchen was closed, but they did offer a food truck up front and there are drinks for purchase inside.
They have a free coat check.
Very respectful and fun community event, I danced the whole night and really like that they emphasize that we should all be taking care of each other and have fun.

This is a great place to learn salsa and bachata dancing for first-timers. They offer a safe environment with some of the best acoustics in the bay, usually accompanied by live music. Check them out every third friday of the month.
