I can’t say enough good things about this place. I’m so glad I stopped by, in the mean time, I’m disappointed that I only to see these exhibitions the last day of trip.

It is very emotional and powerful. It gives you a well all around introduction of the Mexican-American history, that explains lots of my questions during my visit.

I guess because this is a newer museum, it talks about indigenous people’s history before Spanish settler came and destroyed the local society. I appreciate this presentation. Didn’t really see other places around the area talk about this. It’s definitely important for people to know.

Powers to everyone fight for social justice!

Fantastic cultural history museum. Never knew it was here and it had a wealth of history here. I'm glad I brought my son here to show him. I knew these events happened but the level of detail and personal stories helped reinforce it all. Boxing history. The way of life. Great.

An absolutely essential visit for any LA or California history buffs! And it’s close to the Chinese American Museum too if you want a double whammy of essential Los Angeles history. The labor movement, the red-lining of LA, the mass illegal deportation of American citizens, it’s dark stuff but it is important to know our history in order to try to avoid repeating it

It's a great place to find a class, workshop, or exhibition that share the narratives of so many Latino@s in LA. They provide community space and offer free or low-cost programs for LA residents to share and preserve our roots through arte and stories. This has also been the home of LatinaFest for 6 years and is a blast to attend in the right weather. The parking is a bummer but if you can find all-day parking there is so much to enjoy and discover. It's in the heart of LA across from Placita Olvera, near Chinatown, near Grand Station, and even close to Los Feliz Flea at Vintageland.

A wonderful museum with cultural based exhibits. The front desk was welcoming and admission was free. The area around the museum is filled with culture and history. The exhibits themselves were also pretty interesting. I was only able to visit “LA Starts Here” and “Linda Vallejo” which we’re both on the first floor. There are more exhibits on the second floor, but didn’t have time to visit them. Both exhibits talk about the culture before Americans colonized California and also the discrimination and violent acts that they suffered against. The “Linda Vallejo” exhibit also had beautiful art works and statistics about the Latino population. Overall, the exhibits were interesting and was definitely worth the visit.

If you haven't been to this jewel of Mexican culture and art, you're missing a two story, professionally done space with changing exhibits. Historical and contemporary depictions of Mexican life in Los Angeles; depicted using brilliant photography, video and recreated street life spaces. It's free and open every day except Tuesday.
