Wonderful staff and resources!
We have brought our daughter here since she was 5 months old. They have terrific story times that are engaging and geared toward our child's age group. Ms. Linda is very patient and loving towards the kids and even the parents!
We also check out a lot of library materials from here on a regular basis. It is very easy to request books or movies from other libraries and have them sent here where it is easier to pick up rather than driving out of our way to get them.
The staff here in the evening is a lot more strict and not as friendly as they could be. I make it a point to come here during the day as the librarian at the front desk is very kind and helpful.
Overall, the services offered and the materials available make this library an excellent resource for our kids and our town.

Great staff - always helpful. Upstairs area, quiet if you need silence. When the after school kids get noisy, the staff firmly tells them to quiet down.

Overall, it’s a very nice library and it’s apparent the neighborhood seniors value its services.

The Montclair local library, as well as the Montclair State library offe areas of total silence, paid parking and signs everywhere not to never leave your laptop unoccupied,

I had an experience (Mar 1st,2017)here I would say was one of the worst services I ever received in my whole life. This makes me wonder if a staff with such disrespectful and rude nature should really continue to be the first person people see and talk to when they enter the library.

I rented a book for my son about a month ago, and made sure to return it 2-3weeks ago in the dropbox, which I am fully confident was done and done in the right way.
However, today I went to rent a few books for my son again but this staff accused me for not having the book returned! I would have stayed in the library in order to find the book from the shelves to ensure my innocence. But my husband called me a while before to ask for my help in the kitchen of his restaurant because it was really really busy at the moment. So I told the staff who accused me that I would have to leave for personal reasons but he told, not asked, me to stay in such an demanding way that I was wondering if I have committed some serious crimes or something. He made me stay and told another staff to look for the book from the shelf which was another 5 minutes of my and my husband's precious time. The other staff ended up not finding the book, but the accusing staff would still never let me leave the library, so I told him I would leave right now but I will be back as soon as I'm available tonight and find the book for them.
So I was "allowed" to leave and about 1hour later when the restaurant was a lot less busy I took my daughter with me to the library to find the book together .Now at the library I told, in the presence of the accusing staff, I told him that we came to find the book and he said okay.
As a result,I found the book so easily in less than 3-4 minutes and showed it to the staff,
BUT
he accused me of having brought the book from my place or something!! I was really angry inside but this staff did not even apologize once but rather said to me,

"just asking,,,,,,
you don't have to pay for the late fee,
you may leave now."

Sorry for giving a one-star rating. I like the library and its service overall, but this staff deserves a zero from me.
