I wish I’d gone earlier so I could have seen more, but I was lucky to get to visit on the free entrance day (second Tuesday of the month)! I went to the modern and contemporary wing and particularly enjoyed the small exhibit about children and art in Germany. Some of the digital art exhibition was interesting as well. I would recommend giving yourself more than two hours if you want to see a lot of art! The staff were helpful and polite and it was surprisingly uncrowded for a free admission day.

Tips: go on a Friday so you can enjoy the jazz night after your museum visit.

The place isn't huge, but it has a collection of both contemporary and classical artwork. You could say that the place is underwhelming compared to the Getty. They do have a reciprocating program with quite a few museums, so it's worth checking out the list if you have a membership somewhere else.

Was interesting walking around the exhibits and seeing all the art the museums had to offer. It's definitely worth to visit whenever someone wants to venture out and explore Los Angeles artistic side. I would research in advance on what exhibits are showcasing during the month in case people want to see what lacma is offering.

Bring headset so you can get the audio tour and/listen to the paired song with each piece. Start from the 3rd floor to work down and then to the building across. I enjoyed my time there, but could stay as long because I had pastries in the car.

Great collection of contemporary and historical art. The computer graphics and cosmic multiverse exhibits were my favorite. The latter has a stunning astrolabe on display- very cool to see.

The LACMA is an extraordinarily impressive art museum in the heart of Los Angeles. It is absolutely an all day affair, so make sure to budget at least a day (just my opinion) to be able to take everything in. There’s beautiful grounds with sculptures and walking paths, in addition to two distinct indoor galleries with very different art pieces and mediums. The contemporary art gallery is incredible and I could have spent way more time there (had I not gotten hangry lol).
I honestly can’t believe I’ve lived in LA for four years and hadn’t been since now. It’s touristy in the way that some of the best attractions a city has to offer can be, which means basically it is worth the hype. It’s impressive for folks that come to visit LA and it’s impressive for people like me that live here and find another reason to love this city. I will definitely be back.

So apparently LACMA and the Broad are both one in the same facility,but still separate museums. I enjoyed the photo shoot with the lights outside and the different statues and aspects of art in and around the buildings.
