This is a surprise to me as I assumed it was just another city/state exhibition, but it comes out almost like a true museum.

The part the introducing Louisiana show windows are really good and are true art pieces. Not only the contents are rich and informational, their design and display are very considerable.

Other displays, collections, artifacts are presented in good manner too.

I truly recommend this place to who visit Shreveport.

Very nicely done. We learned about the industries including sulphur and salt mining, fossil oil, etc. that make Louisiana great. We particularly liked the paintings by Clementine Hunter, a former slave. All free for a visit.

Marvelous detailed dioramas regarding the economy of Louisiana. That 30 foot dugout canoe us magnificent. There is one flint blade about 11 inches long that made me exclaim out loud. Much much more.

I basically picked this museum to visit because I had time to kill and it was the only one open on Sunday within easy driving distance. The art deco design is cool by itself, and the quality of the dioramas is excellent. I can't speak to the accuracy of the history presented, but it still found it very worthwhile. Highly recommend if you want to learn a bit (or a lot) about the state.

Love this smallish yet very unique museum. The dioramas were astounding... absolutely mind-boggling the number of hours that went into creating them... and the talent! Other great world of art and a really interesting documentary in the auditorium. I really enjoyed this museum.

The detail in the dioramas is mind boggling. It had to have taken thousands of hours of highly skilled artist to do this. The more you look the more you see.
The building is a large donut. Around you go to finish where you started. You could spend all day here learning about the history of Louisiana through the informative dioramas, the artifacts, and the historical paintings. It is amazing. The dioramas each represent a way of life, a major event, an industry. or a period in history. It is like watching a historical movie, only nothing is moving.
It is free!
