A place to view and participate in art making. Its a lovely building right next to the riconada library. It has both inside and outside exhibits. Inside are adult and child studios where people can go to make different forms of art. I saw people painting and making pottery. The children’s exhibits are really cool. Outside are different pieces, many from an artist who used trees as his main material. Its really something.

Extremely expensive and has class times mainly during the daytime, even with scholarship from city. (For example, Sunnyvale's city-run Wilson Park ceramics charges way less and allows you to pay per drop-in). As a result, the space is extremely homogeneous--mainly older white women that don't need to work. Leia (not sure how to spell her name), one of the volunteers, makes me uncomfortable--she is racist and has confused me for other Asian students MULTIPLE times, even though I was there for TWO semesters and dropped in multiple times a week. I want to continue doing ceramics, but I am honestly considering driving all the way to Sunnyvale for a more friendly crowd and more affordable rates.

The Palo Alto Clay and Glass Show is in the top tier of craft shows in the area, if not the best. The Palo Alto Art Center does the community a real service by making quality crafts available to a sophisticated public and educating those who aren't so well-set to what constitutes quality.

Too many glass pumpkins from which to choose! But a great tradition none the less...we figure we've been coming to this event for 20 years!

I enjoy the art exhibits a lot, high quality, but no café to draw us in to appreciate the art.

Palo Alto Art Center is where art thrives. There are countless opportunities to participate in workshops, galleries, and other events. I regularly attend their figure drawing sessions on Tuesday evenings, which are reasonably priced - $8 for 3 hours of figure drawings.
