My teen attended a spring break camp and one week of summer camp with Tara this past year. I highly recommend Perspectives. Tara took them to several different places in SF where they could take photos throughout the week. They spent the last day completing their edits, choosing prints, and curated a small gallery show to close the week. I appreciated the small size, and how my teen was able to develop and refine their creative eye and learn about the compositional aspects of a good photo. My teen says what they appreciated the most was spending lots of time outside and going to different locations to take photos.

My teen just finished her photography camp at Perspectives. She had a wonderful time! She learned a lot, made friends, and loved Tara, the professional photographer and instructor. The camp included everyday outings, which was the perfect combination of artistic inspiration while keeping active and exploring different settings. Tara is an expert and excellent teacher! Highly recommend!

My shy teenaged son had an amazing time in the nature photography workshop over the summer. The field trips gave him confidence in photography and just being out in the world. Tara is a great teacher who created a supportive environment for the kids—highly recommended!

My daughter attended a weeklong summer photography camp with Tara in July 2024. She started camp as an absolute beginner and knew no one going into camp. Tara created a great learning environment that really spurred my daughter's independence and creativity. There were outings on four out of 5 days, including 3 full day outings to Lake Merritt gardens, the Ferry Building and Lands End/Sutro Baths. The last day was spent in studio prepping the photography show for parents and families. My daughter had a fantastic time at camp! She learned photography skills, gained confidence in her creative output, bonded with other campers, and explored cool settings in Emeryville, Oakland and SF. She returned home happy and tired each day, eager to share her photos and experiences. Thank you Tara!

My son recently did a one week photo camp with Tara. It was a great experience for him. He learned a lot about what makes a good photo as well as how to use the various settings on his camera. And, he got a good amount of exercise in through all the walking the kids do at each day's location. We will likely sign up for another week next summer.

My son attended a one-week Perspectives summer camp in SF - mostly about nature photography. He really enjoyed it and felt like he learned a lot. He appreciated the small group format that allowed for personal feedback. He felt that Tara was really able to meet everyone where they were at in terms of their photography skills. We highly recommend the camp.

This was my daughter's 2nd year (6th and 7th grade) attending photo school for the week long session. In addition to Tara being super kind and great with kids while also developing their skills as they learn about photography, it was a nice opportunity for my daughter to get out, meet new people, and explore different places in the Bay Area that she's never been to or if she has, seeing them from a new perspective. She felt she improved over the course of week and really enjoyed taking photos around her peers; she said she "liked working together and that other people's opinions and helpful critique of the work really mattered." Tara also puts a show together at the end so each student can showcase their work as a group and individually- and we got to take photos home that we can put up in our home. Thanks for a(nother) great experience!
