I love that this museum is open so late. It's a great way to keep the museum accessible to the local community and not just tourists. This place had a great layout and each display had the space for its own presence. One area on the first floor, Contemporary, was uncomfortable for my friend because various displays were playing very ominous music and had some displays that were kind of dark. I was fine with it, but if you're unable to be around dark themes and uncomfortable art, this might be an issue. No big deal, it's just not for you.

The workers were very friendly and welcoming, in addition to being security. Another museum we visited this week had security people who were watching everyone like a hawk, the workers here were more friendly and less policing.

We went on a night when they were having an Indigenous Day celebration and it was a delight to see the local people being celebrated in dance and song.

This place was great, I would recommend it to other museum fans. I wouldn't recommend it for kids but my experience was during the evening when a special event was going on, so it might be more loud friendly during other hours.

The only issue came from trying to buy tickets online: their website is wonky.

As a guy traveling across the country on my motorcycle, I decided to make a pit stop in Phoenix to catch up with some good friends, and they suggested we check out the Phoenix Art Museum. I wasn’t expecting much—I usually get my thrills on the open road rather than in museums—but I have to say, this place is incredible!

The museum has a great mix of exhibits, from classic paintings to contemporary installations that really make you think. The diversity of art here was a pleasant surprise; there’s something for everyone. My personal favorite was the Western art section, which felt fitting given my road trip vibe.

The layout of the museum is easy to navigate, and the staff was super friendly, ready to give tips on exhibits and answer any questions. We spent a few hours there, but I could have easily spent longer. If you’re passing through Phoenix, definitely take a detour to check out this gem-it’s well worth it!!! ?

This Art Museum is HUGE!! I got lost because it has stairs and rooms everywhere, it is a maze and what a beautiful maze! There are so many different exhibits, from modern art, to contemporary and a bit of cubism, Impressionism. The Asian exposition was a surprise to me because it had classical, all the way to modern and it reflects the culture of the whole continent, not just one part.
I was also impressed with the fashion floor. The museum has had those exhibits for decades apparently. The sketches were amazing pieces of art themselves. There are some dresses from different centuries, as well as some other different pieces.
The nude art has never been my favorite, but the pictures were great quality and they captured the purpose of the artist. Definitely a must see.

Very cool museum! We came at one Sunday, and it was free for the whole family! Our kids did the beads, post card painting, watched performances of dances! The weather was really good! There were two food trucks outside of the museum too for more food options. I want to go back there again!

Cool little spot with a lot to offer! I wandered around and found some great things to see and do. The staff were accommodating—they held my luggage at the front and kept it safe, which was a huge plus. The café was fantastic, offering delicious, healthy options, and the house lemonade was absolutely amazing!

One of the highlights was relaxing in the garden, which was peaceful and perfect for a quick nap. Unfortunately, my relaxation was cut short when I was rudely awakened by a maintenance worker wearing a cap and sunglasses. It happened to be during the 50th anniversary celebration, which made it even more disappointing.

Overall, it’s a great spot with lots of potential, but that one negative interaction keeps me from giving it a perfect rating. 4 stars!

The exhibits are enjoyable to explore, and I appreciate how some are permanent while others are rotated, keeping things fresh. There’s always something new to discover. It wasn’t crowded during our visit. It took about two hours to see everything, and I’d definitely return.

The Phoenix Art Museum is an absolute gem and a fantastic place to escape the summer heat! This museum offers a wide variety of exhibits that cater to all tastes, from contemporary art to classic masterpieces. Every visit feels like a new adventure.

Currently, the museum is undergoing renovations, and I couldn’t be more excited to see the final results. The updates are sure to enhance this already incredible space and provide even more to explore and enjoy.

I’m particularly sad this is the last weekend for the Barbie exhibit. It’s been a nostalgic and whimsical journey through decades of fashion and cultural history, and I’ll miss it dearly.

A season family pass to the Phoenix Art Museum is an incredible value that can pay off quickly. With the variety of exhibits, programs, and special events, a family can easily make multiple visits throughout the year. Not only does it provide unlimited access to world-class art, but it also offers a cool and enriching escape from the summer heat, making it a smart investment for anyone looking to get the most out of their cultural experiences.

Overall, the Phoenix Art Museum is a must-visit. Whether you’re a local looking for a cool place to spend a hot afternoon or a visitor wanting to experience some culture, this museum has it all. I highly recommend it to everyone!
