The Port Workspaces offer so many amenities under one roof and even above that on the rooftop terrace! There is plenty of breathing room and an abundance of work spaces. Fast WiFi, great coffee, beautiful waterfront locations throughout Oakland. The professional community is welcoming and supportive. The event space, kitchens, and labs are a unique feature making this a cut above other coworking options.

Feeling burnt out with working from home, I recently became a member in an effort to increase my focus and productivity and so far so good. The location is super convenient for me, which is a plus. I have not had many interactions with management, but Abulala in particular has been friendly and helpful. Sometimes it can be loud depending on where I am sitting, but there are plenty of out-of-the way spots that I can go to if I need it to be quieter. I also enjoy the terrace and the access to the Kaiser rooftop garden when I need some air.

Myself and our staff enjoyed the options for many places to hold breakout meetings, natural light with an open feel, private and group space were a plus to use through our workday as well. The rooftop space was a great place to eat lunch and disconnect with my colleagues and get fresh air. Port Workspace staff was helpful and accommodating to our needs and we will return in the future. Recommended for companies or individuals that appreciate in-person workspace that is functional and convenient.

Definitely on the grungier side compared to a wework. I gave it a try because it’s a smaller business in a historic building. You don’t get access to the outdoor patio as a day guest. The space itself feels like you are in a building lobby with random pockets rather than a workplace.

Minor rant: The check in process was particularly awful - there’s a kiosk to sign in outside the building but it didn’t pick up the fact that I had already prepaid for a day pass earlier that day. Got some attitude from the receptionist when I ran the doorbell, to which she said “you don’t need to ring, I can see you.” Cool, maybe you should have just answered the door when I spent 3 minutes fumbling thru your kiosk.

As a fully remote worker, I've been interested in coworking spaces for a while. After touring around a few different options in Oakland, I knew the Port would be the best choice for me. It has a friendly environment, a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking Lake Merritt (the selling point for me!), and many quiet corners to get some work done. I worked with Abulala for a tour and to get started, and the experience was smooth, friendly, and easy!

As a visitor, the place was nice a bit on the dark side but had a great atmosphere for quiet working as sound does carry indoors. The more I paid attention to things, the less thrilled I became with the location. The floors and walls were filthy like they had been mopped with dirty water and the restrooms on the first floor were a JOKE. If you work here on the daily, make good use of the hand sanitizer stations as I'm sure common surfaces are not cleaned regularly.
