Quaint little historic town. Seems like they’ve done a good job at maintaining the decor as closely as possible (with updates of course as it is necessary). Some activities are available, the kids love the game room with antique bowling. Public restrooms are available. Not a playground but everything is a playground really, the kids loved climbing on the rocks and around. Picnic areas available.

This place is incredible for any rail enthusiast. The train excursion is wonderful and informative, but even better is the tour of the grounds. Our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about all things train and rail related, and took the time to immerse my children in the rich history of the engines and machinery.
The opportunities for photography here are endless. Anyone with a passion for 35mm or medium format should froth at the mouth at the gorgeous natural lighting found here.
Do yourself a favor and spend an afternoon learning about history and talking with wonderful people!

We took a spontaneous trip to Jamestown and got into the last tour of the day here at Railtown with our four kids. It was so much cooler than I expected. Very affordable price, the tour guide was great and had so much knowledge. The roundhouse is incredible and worth your time getting to see. Appreciate all the history and preservation they have done here.

Interesting to see the shop areas with on going work on the steam locomotives. Tour guide explains the on going work and the movie and television history of the equipment used for filming Petticoat Junction, and Back to the Future. The back shops reflect how work was done over 100 years ago.
