Choosing a teacher to study piano with is an important decision. It affects how you will play, grow your skills and your artistry, and how you’ll feel about yourself along the way. Choosing to study piano with Rebecca Bogart is most definitely one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Every lesson is a learning experience and a joy. Her ability to teach is remarkable and she meets you where you are in your journey. No matter what the stumbling block, she quickly shows you how to overcome it. She never criticizes, always encourages, helps you find your musical voice and shares her love of music with you at every lesson. I have learned more from Rebecca in one year than I did from all of my other teachers combined. Aside from being a gifted teacher, she’s a gifted performing artist, she knows piano literature inside and out, and shares her insightful knowledge of the composers so that their stories can give you a connection to their work. If you want to see what kind of pianist you can really be, then choose to study with Rebecca; it will be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made.

Lessons with Rebecca have led to striking results in my playing!

Before studying with Rebecca, despite many years of studying Jazz piano, I still used to feel limited by my technical ability. Playing with the speed, tone, and feel of my favorite pianists often felt out of reach.

Since beginning lessons with Rebecca, I feel like a different player. Much of the seemingly impossible is now easy and has completely opened up the piano for me!

As an adult learner, I was a little worried about finding a teacher that would work well with me. I'm so glad I found Rebecca! Having now worked with a few teachers, I can confidently say that I struck gold. Rebecca breaks down difficult passages and works with your hands to find the right fingerings and arm movements. As an expert in the Taubman approach, she is masterful at being mindful of your body movements. This was a whole dimension of piano I had previously unexplored and led directly to improvements in my playing.

She also has a great ear and is able to give specific, actionable feedback on different ways to play passages or be more expressive.

And lastly, she is a joy to be around and hear play. She hosts recitals and workshops so that you can play in front of a set of peers of fellow learners. As someone with stage anxiety, I was so grateful to be able to have that safe space to play and get feedback.

My only regret is moving! If I ever move back to the bay area, I'll be right back in her studio. Thank you Rebecca!

Rebecca is very knowledgeable in terms of both technique and musical interpretation.
She can really pin-point the problems, and tell you how to solve them.
