We had a lovely tour with Melanie last weekend! She was a gracious guide and indulged all our questions about the home, time period, and the DAR. Definitely returning this winter for the complimentary tea & cookies as well as the gift shop. I hear they do it up big for Christmas!

Nice place and interesting things to see. The history of the building has nothing to do with the DAR but still a nice place to check out if you’re inclined. They offer tea and cookies at the end of your tour.

We decided to take in a couple of the historical homes in Mobile a few weeks back. I did some research, finding that roughly 5-6 existed and open for tours. We drove over to Mobile, using google maps for location. There was lots of road construction, however, we navigated there successfully.
There is only on street parking, so grabbed a spot and knocked on the door. We were greeted by two women, both volunteers. One belonged to a group of teens that volunteer their time to help further the education of historic homes.
They asked for a small donation ($10 each) to help defray costs, which we happily paid.
Our guide took us on a lovely journey through time, talking about the various owners, what was going on in those times, pointing out interesting factoids and information. I think we spent roughly an hour on the tour. We quite enjoyed ourselves.
Of course, the tour ends in the gift shop, however, it was a collection of Southern items, locally made items, etc.. The woman that greeted us at the door, was there and offered us a cup of tea, which I thoroughly enjoyed. We visited with them for a bit, then departed through the garden area.
What a nice way to spend a Sunday Afternoon!!
