Took my first 4 week class here and I’m so excited to come back as a member! There are some studios closer to me but I love the space so much that I’m willing to make the trek. The studio is so bright and welcoming and never too crowded, and the teacher was so helpful! I’m super excited to delve more into pottery!

Weird rules and you won’t get your full deposit back. Even if there was an agreement that your membership ends on X date. You have to actually email them on that date to confirm that your shelf is clean. Can’t you see that yourself? You can only bring a guest every 30 days. Not once per month, every 30 days. So you can’t bring someone November 5, then again December 1. Whoever makes these rules is odd. Otherwise the studio is fine.

I loved this pottery studio! I recently moved out of SF and saying goodbye to this studio, its members, and instructors was the hardest part of leaving the city. The studio is both clean and well managed. Your studio fee covers pretty much all of your expenses including reclaimed clay, large selection of tools, and glazes. The members are all so sweet and welcoming, plus they have some very cute/well behaved puppies that accompany them to the studio. The instructors were helpful, knowledgeable, and happy to answer my a million and one questions. The owner was also super easy going and accommodating. HIGHLY recommend this gem of a spot!

I took 4 wonderful classes at this studio in August. The instructors were caring, experienced, and helpful. I decided to become a member because it was such a great experience (and throwing pots definitely helped me recharge during the workweek). 10/10 recommend.

Such a special place! I took their 4 week course for beginners and was blown away by the class. Andy is absolutely, undoubtedly an amazing teacher. I came in knowing nothing about throwing and left with a healthy knowledge. Her teaching style is kind and judgment free with some quick humor sprinkled in. She goes over everything multiple times in different ways which I found caters to all of the different learning styles. Andy is at your disposal during the month of the class and is always willing to help. Not only will she provide an answer or guidance to your question but she gives the reason behind it. I find that super helpful as a person who asks “why?” a lot. The class provides you access to the studio for the whole month so you can practice what you’ve learned the week before. I highly encourage anyone interested in pottery work to take this course and see for yourself how fun it can be.

When I first passed by Richmond Clay House, I knew it would be amazing. I signed up for classes as soon as I could! I'd taken a ceramics class before at a different well-known studio and there were TWENTY people with just ONE instructor.

RCH is different - Matt emphasized that he would never have more than six people per class, allowing for 1-1 attention. And what a class it was - I learned so much, and having the open studio let me keep trying and failing in order to improve.

After a month of classes (and walking away with 8 completed pieces!), I knew I had to continue. I joined as a member and spent anywhere from 6-12 hours a week in the studio. Membership includes a bunch! One bag of clay per month, communal tools, glazes, and firings.

The members and staff are all so kind, whenever I have a question, someone is always there to guide me through the answer. RCH is a true community and I know I've made lifelong friends there. I've even met a bunch of my neighbors by being a member! Also Pacha! Who doesn't love this perfectly well behaved adorable Aussie Shepherd to coax you away from the wheel when you need a stretch break?!

I joined this studio when it opened in October. It has been an amazing experience watching this place grow. I signed up for a monthly class and loved it so much that I became a member. Matt is a great teacher. He’s patient and always willing to answer your questions. Over the months, this studio has really grown into an awesome community. I met many nice peeps. Things got quiet because of the pandemic, but members are coming back. The studio is opened pretty much all day for members. We follow the latest safety guidelines and keep the place clean. It hasn’t been a problem with the opening hours. Pros: free recycled clay, tools, glazes and good vibes!

I just finished my four week introductory class at Richmond Clay House and I could not have had a more enjoyable experience. My instructor, Hala, was truly such a bright light on my experience. She perfectly balanced providing instruction and guidance while also supporting the creator and artistic flare of each person in the class. As a new ceramics student, I feel like I needed that support. Both the environment of the studio and Hala made it feel warm and exciting. I plan on continuing with a membership and seeing where my creations take me. I would recommend this studio and my instructor to anyone!
