Spectacular find in Ranch Cucamonga. If you love historic homes, Native American pottery, and fabulous wood working this is the place. You have to buy tickets to tour the house but the grounds and gardens are free. One of Sam’s rocking chairs cost $25k plus. Some if his stuff is at the Smithsonian.

A local treasure! Do yourself a favor and support them by booking a tour. Tours fill up in advance so book at least a few days to week plus ahead. You can visit the gardens for free, fantastic way to spend the afternoon.

Visiting the Sam and Alfreda Maloof Foundation was a magical experience. You often get to see the works of great artists, but rarely do you get to see the space where they honed their craft or a home they built with those very skills. You could feel the warmth and echos family permeating the space alongside stunning examples of Sam's woodworking and Alfreda's art. To say I enjoyed the experience is an understatement. Cathy, our docent was knowledgeable and engaging and truly brought the tour of the grounds to life. I highly recommend her and visiting the foundation!

PS - If you're so inspired, I found out they do offer woodworking classes where you get to build something in the spirit of Sam's work and take it home with you!

Great place to get your arts and craft fix. Also a great place to take out of town guests that's off the beaten path. Unfortunately, you can't take photos of the house itself, so it's hard to get a sense for what it's like on the internet, but it's definitely worth a visit.
