There are so many things to love about this place! First and foremost, it has helped me become a much better guitarist! Their entire concept of having you perform as a group is really effective for me! I've felt myself get so much better at playing my guitar ever since I joined. I feel like there is a purpose to my practice. I no longer dread it, but look forward to it (most days! 😀) Second, I love the socializing part. The music is a means to an end, and the end really is feeling like you are part of a group, a community with a common goal. That to me is priceless! Last but not the least, the instructors are really cool! My private lesson instructor is so knowledgeable, I feel like he must have been born with a guitar in his hand!! 😂 And the group session instructors are also very knowledgable, but I think where they really excel is in their ability to make all of us feel like rockstars, and encourage us to feel like we can perform and sound good.

Overall, I really couldn't ask for anything more from a music school. If you're the kind of person who likes to perform, likes to play music with other people, and just hang out with a bunch of fun folks, then you've got to check this place out!

School of Rock Palo Alto is an amazing place! My daughter has grown so much as a musician and a performer thanks to participation in summer camps, performance band, lessons, and the House Band. The relationships she has formed with other students and with teaching mentors are some of her most cherished connections. We feel very lucky to have found such an excellent program.

School of Rock has been a place of joy, learning, and teamwork for our kids. The combination of private lessons matched with band rehearsals give my kid a reason to keep practicing and learning, so that he can work with his band to create the best show ever. Also, it is truly magical to hear my second-grader actually playing White Stripes or Cranberries. The studio was supportive and kind when we ran into hiccups. Everyone here is so nice.

We've been attending School of Rock for Keyboard lessons. My son loves his teacher and the opportunity to perform regularly is a big bonus of learning here.

Both of my kids have had a fantastic experience with School of Rock! We joined the program thinking they would learn how to play guitar, voice and drums and were blown away by the leadership, cooperation and presentation skills they have learned along the way! The opportunity to be a part of the Performance Program, allowed them to gain these skills and instilled the drive for them to practice (without me having to remind them), because they wanted to do well for the group! As time progressed I came to realize the inherent communication, especially listening skills, that are necessary for playing in a group, a skill our kids will carry with them for a lifetime!
The instructors are supportive, caring and highly skilled. Claudia is an amazing vocal teacher, Chas is a fantastic guitar teacher and Robbie is a wonderful drum teacher. They all find the balance of making it fun while building skill levels along the way. Will is an exceptional Music Director and Leilani is always friendly and willing to answer any questions at the front desk. I’ve heard great things about other instructors, but the ones I listed above are the instructors my kids have had a direct relationship with. They have had other instructors leading their performance groups and have had a great experience as well. School of Rock Palo Alto manages to maintain an inclusive and supportive environment allowing the children to grow into their best music selves! I love that at the shows everyone has a chance to shine and the creative expression in outfits is fantastic! I’m so grateful this group of instructors have chosen to give their time and nurture the children in our community in this way!

School of Rock has been a great experience for my daughter. I was originally just looking for private guitar lessons for her, but the school of rock program combines the private lessons with weekly band practice and performance. She loves the band and has made good friends, and it motivates her to practice more. Great program.

Exercise caution when considering this facility. We ran into situation the class was cancelled abruptly without adequate notice. My six-year-old daughter was left unattended alone there for an hour and a half because they claimed to have a wrong contact number on file. Upon picking her up, the staff at the front desk seemed explained nothing about the incident.

After our complaint, the school only apologized and agreed to terminate our tuition. However, they failed to process a refund for the prepaid fees and continued charging our credit card for the following month. We reached out to the general manager, Brian, on three separate occasions but received no response.

How can any parent trust such a facility with such basic lapses in ethics and responsibility?"

I can't say enough good things about School of Rock and the enthusiasm and instruction they provide young musicians. Learning to play with other musicians right from the start is something I never considered, but the musical awareness and progress speak volumes about the SOR Method. Instead of a stuffy recital, they get to perform a ROCK SHOW! Learn Bach, but live Rock! 🤘
