Excellent organization. High quality musical instruction that's enjoyable for the boys. From a music-learning perspective, a real bargain since there are also weekly theory classes in addition to weekly rehearsals. They both now know more music theory than I can remember (and I played piano and violin for 12 years). The directors have a magical way with boys--I find it impressive that they can direct all that energy into the creation of such beautiful music. Both my boys sang in the choir (one still does) and they always leave in the best mood. I have always been surprised that they like this option as much (or even better) than the svarious sports they play in.

This is THE place for a boy who loves music or singing. My son has really enjoyed learning to use his voice as an instrument, and has a great time making great music in a friendly environment with other boys and patient voice instructors. This is a professional-caliber boys' choir with competitive tuition and good scheduling. The choir performs music drawn from all religions, holidays, cultures, nationalities, and historical time periods. If your boy is 7-8 years old, that's the best time to start.

Silicon Valley Boychoir led by Julia Simon is the gift that keeps giving. Both my boys, ages 11 and 7 are in it and it's such an important part of our lives. The boys learn to read music, train their voices and channel their love for singing to the most amazing results. Rehearsals, musical theory and singing suppers (which also build community) culminate in two beautiful concerts a year (including a holiday concert that is the perfect start to the holiday season). In addition, SV Boychoir has provided "once in a lifetime opportunities" time and time again! My boy has performed in Carmina Burana with the Stanford chorus and symphony, sang the national anthem at a basketball game and will soon be performing in La Boheme with West Bay Opera. Can't thank Julia and the other directors and musicians enough for bringing such beautiful music and experiences into our lives!
