I was looking for art classes in my area & stumbled upon Soli Deo Arts! I’m so happy I did!! Jim & Ruth are the sweetest!! I had no idea what to expect but Jim made getting back into my artist groove seamless. I hadn’t picked up a pencil since middle school and I felt right at home! 😊🙌🏼❤️ Their knowledge, experience, and talent makes them experts in their craft and I can’t wait to start the next sessions!!

My daughter has been attending classes here for over a year now. It has been such a positive experience for her. Not only have her skills developed but she has found a place she enjoys going to and people that are supportive and kind. Jim takes his time with each student and sees the potential behind each artist. Regardless of beginner or advanced!

My 7-year-old granddaughter attended art classes at Soli Deo Arts in Pitman and loved them! She was so excited to go each week and enjoyed the varied art projects: watercolor, 3-D construction, printmaking, drawing, to name a few. Each was placed on art board as a mat and was ready to frame, including information on the back describing the processes used to create the artwork. As a retired art teacher, I was pleased with the quality of the instruction she received. Ruth and Jim's kindnesses made my granddaughter comfortable in their home and allowed her to feel safe to create. She looks forward to summer art camp!

Ruth and Jim went above and beyond to make my daughter’s “Swiftie” themed birthday party absolutely amazing. My daughter was interested in making a portrait of Taylor Swift (TS) with fashionably detailed outfits and shoes. There were many details throughout my daughter’s party that showed how much Ruth researched beforehand. She artistically crafted individualized “Eras Tour” ticket pouches that held artistic tools for the girls to use. She made print outs of different TS hairstyles and fashions for the children to be inspired on. The girls had so much fun using their little lipsticks to help them draw lips. Ruth creatively used little magnets for girls to place different outfits. She had an area for to create friendship bracelets. Entwined with everything TS, Ruth educated the girls on how to draw head and body proportions at different ages. The lively tunes of girls singing kid-friendly TS songs from the music background while drawing and coloring took me back to joy of my own childhood’s b-day parties. Ruth’s adaptability, creativeness, patience, and passion for teaching the arts are all what makes her such an exceptional teacher. Jim and Ruth, your intimate and personal art studio, along with your calm and lovable personae are what will make us and our guests come back again for future workshops. Thank you both for hosting an art party outside of your traditional workshops. My daughter and her friends had a “Swift”astic time!!!

While searching for summer art classes for my teen daughter this summer, I was fortunate to find Soli Deo Arts! Not only was it close to home, but Ruth and Jim, the proprietors, are two of the most welcoming and patient individuals my daughter has met! They are also wonderfully talented artists who go above and beyond to propagate their artistic knowledge to both young and old alike! My daughter looked forward to going each week and working on new skills. She is now excited to continue with classes during the school year. Another big plus with Soli Deo Arts is their small class size. The student to teacher ratio is kept smalll so that each student is able to receive personal feedback and instruction. It also makes the class environment manageable for those students who may be easily overwhelmed in a large class setting. Thank you, Ruth and Jim, for pouring into the community and assisting those individuals who want to learn and/or refine their artistic abilities.

50 year old with no art experience trying something new. I was very intimidated as I entered their studio/house and realized the others had been doing this with Jim for quite a while. Jim’s relaxed approach put me at ease immediately. He tailors his teacher to each individual and offers guidance, praise and encouragement along the way. I felt so comfortable after 3 lessons that I joined his water color workshop and loved every minute.
