Great experience working on clay. Little tricky to get a handle on but our instructor, Prachi (hope I spelled your name right) was very patient and helpful. Would highly recommend for a date night with friends, family or any loved ones.

Really great studio with classes and membership options. The waitlist to become a member is kind of long so just be patient.

Stacy was an exceptional pottery class instructor! His hands-on approach and incredibly positive attitude made each session enjoyable and productive. He was not only friendly but also highly skilled, making him stand out among other instructors at the studio. My friends and I agree that he was the best choice for learning pottery. Thank you, Stacy, for making our experience so wonderful! Highly recommend this instructor!

I love south bay ceramics! While their beginner classes are great, I think they shine with teaching intermediate and advanced skills. It’s one of the better studios in the area if you are serious about improving, or if you are interested in the community component (plus the glaze options are better). I also want to give a shoutout to my current instructor Bahar - she is so knowledgeable and is clearly passionate about teaching. I’ve learned so much in her course and recommend it for all intermediate potters!

Took a beginner throwing class. The instructor for my group was personable enough, and seems to have a good grasp of the technique -- but completely unsuited to teaching a full group (~9 students?). No time management skills, no real lesson plan...
They ended up doing the work for basically everyone. As soon as people had problems, they either went on and messed up their piece completely from compounded errors -- or waiting for up to an hour for the instructor to go around & help. Instead of teaching what to do/not to do, they would just fix the piece (or completely redo everything) and take it all the way to the end product (making everyone else wait longer & not letting the student learn other than verbally)

Took a handbuilding class with Miki and a wheel throwing class with Michael. Both are awesome instructors and I learned so much! I'd say if you like more freedom to express your creativity, choose Miki. If you like more step-by-step, handholding instructions, go for Michael.

I also really appreciate the open studio hours when I can come in and practice my skills!

South Bay Ceramics is a beautiful space with ample wheels and gorgeous clay bodies and glazes!

The staff are so nice and knowledgeable ❤️ I signed up for membership right away, but they also teach classes with an option to add on open studio time.

Cool studio overall. I highly recommend the 6 weeks classes for beginners. One thing to improve though, the kiln is placed close to the shelves, so a sign needs to be there when it’s firing.
