I passed through this school. But overall experience was bad. There was a teacher there that didn't know what she was doing most of the time( I hear she no longer works there)

The Trucks are all pretty beat down and old from all the practice that goes on in the training lot. Tend to break down in the middle of training/testing. For example one of the trucks power steering went out during a class test. Which made half of the class fail due to the turning radius being limited.

Rainy days are kinda brutal as we all just sit outside in the rain until break comes around. The whole lot gets flooded. (I know it's good training for real life trucking tho.)

There's 2 Manual Trucks (2010-2016 VNL VOLVO) and the rest are automatic Frieghtliner(2013-2018). I belive they give you an option to learn in the manual Trucks. But those Trucks are mostly for private students.

The classes are large so you'll have to wait a while before you actually get a turn to practice, test or do something with a truck.

You do get DMV tested on site when you are done with classes.. Make sure you speak loudly or else you might fail.

I also have pictures of the trucks. I think there's a total of 10 or 11 trucks. 2 are the manuals

I got my permit through this school yes it's fast paced but they give you the answer in the book to pass for the test . So far so good let's see if I get my actual liscene through them

Update : I passed and got my class A license. The school is fine but you have to put in effort and for the skills you have to do and remember exactly what the instructors are telling you ..

It's a good school but you will be in debt I'd you choose to leave early and they want over 400 a month to pay them back ASAP . For that I had to lower my stars

These day cab drivers need to slow down. Going 20mph+ is ridiculous in this yard. I was walking and nearly got hit by his trailer. When I confronted the guy he said "where's your safety vest? " the wild thing is not even like 30 minutes later a day cab driver hit a DSW truck and ripped off his mirror and headlight.
Overall facility is run down, gates, parking lot, trailer parking all very worn out. Nobody parks neat in between the lines lots of wasted space. No hot water in the showers over weekends.
The little Cafe was clearly open at 08:30am I just got a burrito. Then a Caucasian gentleman came up a couple moments later to order and the cooks insisted they were closed and could not serve him. So he gave up and left. Then just a minute after or so a Hispanic guy walks up and orders without any problems. It felt very wrong.

DO NOT COME TO SWIFT!!! They will send for you to come but if you don't make the cut they won't send you back home and will leave you stranded. They are really inconsiderate of other people time. The class for permit was rushed and they waist a lot of time and leave no room for study time. Oh make sure you study your commercial handbook because they will not study it with you.a lot of people fail that portion. Bring your own money for food and water and if you don't have a car bring money for Uber or Lyft. They don't not help with any of the expenses and Barb likes to play dumb like she don't know anything. If I knew my experience would be like this I would of gotten my license on my own. They make it sound good until you arrive so just keep that and mind. They let the hotel tell me I wasn't going to be a candidate versus them letting me know and I was on campus the whole day. Congrats if you make it through.

I couldn’t find online what amenities they had, they have showers that are old and need to be remodeled, we got there at around 7pm and their lounge room was empty, couldn’t buy a drink or snacks because they close at who knows what time. They have parking which is good, it is a pretty ugly spot but if you just want to sleep and you don’t really care stay here. We were just glad to be able to shower at least. The showers do have hot water, and overall the place was clean. No washers or dryers, no fitness area, just a lounge room, restrooms and showers.

This place is a train wreck. From office administrators to the instructors in the yard. Even my recruiter fell short. I was not even given directions to the location or dress code or materials needed. My first day I was given no classroom time to emphasize any of the materials for Pretrip vehicle inspection. I was put into a big rig driving on the roads my very first day. I find it to be a bit dangerous but we all ended up back at the yard safely.when taught maneuvers from the instructors I was taught how to parallel park. The way they taught maneuvers at this academy are completely useless in the real world. I feel this is a grave disservice to all the students in the academy. I spent hours and hours learning how to perform a parallel that would cause me to crash into another vehicle. I asked the instructors about this and they said it was only to take the exam and I would never use this maneuver in real life. If your looking to learn maneuvers that are applicable in real life I would give this academy a solid F. 2 of the 3 maneuvers that I learned would have caused me to crash the vehicle. These instructors will not teach you anything if it’s not on the exam. Upon graduating I couldn’t even couple or uncouple a trailer. I had no idea how to operating the landing gear. The only reason they’re even in the yard is to give you your time needed to get your certificate. I’d call these instructors lazy and when it comes to breaks they leave early and come back late. This is a horrible place to learn how to drive a truck. They may get people there class A license but do not expect to learn how to drive a truck. You’ll be very disappointed. Also be prepared to have to unlearn all the methods they teach you in how to maneuver the vehicle because if you go in the real world to perform there methods you will end up crashing and hurting other people. This academy is unsafe and a complete waste of time.

This was not a good experience, the trucks are old, and not the same truck you'll test in. Far too many students, impossible to get enough time to get comfortable with the maneuvers. Bright spot many of the instructors are cool and want to help, but are handicapped by the school and equipment and swifts super large classes .

Worst place to go!! Yes the office staff is nice.. but that’s not what you need when you know nothing about a big rig !! They throw you in a class room you read right from the DMV book to test no help from the instructor!! So basically you can do that at home!! 2 days later is test day!! Go test at the DMV for your permit if you pass you go into the yard !! You go with your class the instructor runs through a pre trip super fast and say now practice for 10 hours my group did that for 2 days then they throw you in a truck and say back up in a straight line in between cones like are you serious!!! Not a good school at all FONTANA SWIFT is not the school to attend!!! Oh and if you don’t pass your gone
