TeePee Curios, a renowned shop on Route 66 in Tucumcari, New Mexico, boasts an attractive exterior and eye-catching neon sign. However, it's owner Gar Engman and his staff who truly make it exceptional. Gar is a great guy, mellow and easygoing, making you want to spend time with him. He's invited us to his home to meet his horses and donkeys, showcasing his friendly nature. We've known him for years and always visit when in Tucumcari. His staff is excellent and personable. The shop offers various items, including Route 66 pins, shirts, bags, hats, souvenirs, pottery, and jewelry. Stop by and say hello to Gar and his staff when in Tucumcari; you'll gain valuable insights into the area. Thanks, Gar, for being an outstanding Route 66 ambassador!

I stopped in here quite a while ago I left pissed. It's an awesome stop along the Route 66 tour. With such a unique building structure and loaded with ALL the things Route 66 related, I can see why it's popular.

The counter clerk totally ruined it for me. I don't know if she had something against me personally or if she just had absolutely ZERO customer service skills. She managed to conduct the entire transaction without saying one work to me and I know she wasn't deaf or mute because she had been running her mouth with her coworkers the entire time I was shopping. No hello, did you find everything OK, the total, goodbye, thanks - absolutely nothing. I got in my car totally flabbergasted and debated walking back in and returning everything.

So sure, check out the outside decor and maybe even venture inside, and best of luck getting someone with a better attitude.

Very well managed business with friendly staff. Convenient early morning hours and right across the street from a coffee shop. On the main strip near other historic businesses. Perfect photo opportunity inside and outside. There is a large Clint Eastwood cutout that you can stand next to for pictures.

This is a great little shop. I wanted to stop because it is the only one of them left. On Route 66 there were a lot of shops like this in its heyday. Sadly most are ruins and bones.
There are a large array of souvenirs for Route 66 as well as some Native American art that is Navajo and authentic. Postcards, metal signs, mugs. At fun to look at all of the things they offer.
They have 2 pups in the shop so make sure you ask if yours are welcome.
They were every nice and wrapped my breakables well so they would make it the rest of my journey.
I would recommend!!

What a cute shop! Friendly staff and lots of selection at the best prices we have seen in the area. Plus it has some unique items.

The murals are beautiful and you’re bound to spend at least a few minutes looking at all the little details of this place. My favorite were the Kachina dancers, for sure. <3 Also, this shop (and others in the area) were featured in Radiator Springs, the fictional town in the movie Cars!

Friendly woman at the counter and men working outside the building were kind. Native American made gorgeous pottery and jewelry. Large selection of tshirts, license plates, signs, mugs, shot glasses, New Mexico and rte66 themed merchandise, posters, post cards, magnets, you name it! I felt like a kid in a candy store.

Wow, what a place! We stopped here during our trip on Route 66 to buy some souvenirs to bring back home and the visit was definitively worth it! The place is iconic, inside and outside, the prices are much more convenient compared to other places on the Road and they have so many articles on display! Plus, this is a great photo-op! You must stop here!
